Giveaway Extravaganza!

Ok, maybe not an extravaganza…but it is a giveaway, and it is my first one, and I am a little excited, so cut me a break 😛 More about the giveaway after these messages…

Shane and I cooked an absolutely drool-worthy dinner last night. While I made sweet potato fries and veggies, he made stuffed burgers. Uh huh, it was one of those kinds of dinners 😛 He stuffed the burgers with sauteed onion, cheese, and relish. Oh it was to die for. I put this beast of a burger on an Arnold Sandwich thin with a ketchup and mustard smiley…

..orrr something like a smiley.

Annnd I’ve met my red meat quota for the week! haha…

Before I ate my weight in dinner, I did 40 minutes on the elliptical. I decided since Saturday is race day, I’m going to do more ellipticizing than running, to be sure I don’t wear down my legs. Tomorrow will be a run day, and will be my last run day until THE run day – phew! LOL

Sarah, from Lara Bar was nice enough to send some of the new Lara Bar flavors my way! They arrived at my doorstep on my one-month blogiversary, so it was perfect! I’ve already tried the PBJ flavor, and I can tell you, it’s definitely a new favorite! 😀 I haven’t had a chance to try the other two yet, but I’ll be sure and let you know what I think. I love to eat Lara Bars an hour or so before I work out for a good pre-work out snack. They keep me full throughout my whole work out, and deliver an adequate balance of protein and carbs, oh and not to mention, freaking tasty!

In the giveaway package are two of each new flavor: Peanut Butter & Jelly, German Chocolate Cake, and Tropical Fruit Tart

Also in the giveaway are two samples of BSN Syntha 6 protein powders

I love to drink protein drinks as a post-workout snack – especially if I’m weight training. They feed my muscles the protein they’re craving, and hold me over until my next meal if I can’t have

  1. Yay for new Larabar flavors! I really want to win because I actually just tried my first Larabar last Friday and I loveeeed it!

    -Favorite pre workout fuel: Peanut butter toast or a granola bar

    -Favorite post workout fuel: Usually I eat after I work out but cereal is really good for me because the milk calms me down and the cereal fills me right up! 🙂

  3. I've never tried Larabar before, the PB & J sounds interesting! I don't really eat prior to runs because my tummy can't handle it but after wards nothing makes me happier than a Carrot Cake Clif Bar… so yummy!!! 🙂

  5. pre workout is one or two bananas and coffee:-) post workout-more fruit and almonds. I usually work out in the a.m., but if I have to workout later, I include more protein.

  6. i have been seeing these new flavors on so many blogs and can't wait to try them! we have LARA bars here, but I JUST found the coconut cream one and they've been over for years already.

    favorite pre-fuel: banana with a bit of pb/ab
    post-fuel: big glass of milk/chocolate milk/protein-y smoothie

  10. Dinner sounds amazing! I planned on making some sweet potato fries tonight so now you've gotten me even more excited for them 😉 What a fun giveaway! LOVE the new laras- they rock my socks off. pre workout fuel- I usually go light here because I have some tummy issues and if I eat even the slightest bit too much I get sick! Half an apple with a tsp or two of nut butter about 1 hour before I workout does me best!

    Post workout- I teach most of my classes/ run at night so post workout fuel is dinner! Lots of veggies, lean proteins (I only eat fish/shell fish or beans), some form of carbs (whole grains or fruit yummy).

  11. Pre workout I try to limit myself to a piece of fruit and then post workout I try to have a meal high in protein and complex carbs. Yummy!

    Post Workout I usually down a TON of water and have something like a half of a banana with Almond Butter.

  18. I love Larabars! I have actually had them many a time as my pre-workout nutrition. But to be honest, I could be better about fueling around my workouts. A good old fashioned protein powder shake is my usual standby when I think of it after lifting.

  19. I'm so excited to try the new PB&J flavor. It looks so good. Preworkout I stick to cranberries and almonds or applesauce/protein powder. Since that's usually prebreakfast, I finish up with protein powder/cereal combo after lifting or oatmeal/egg white combo after cycling. Great giveaway!!

    My favorite pre-workout snack is an english muffin or piece of bread with peanut butter. I don't really eat a post-workout snack even though I know I should. I'm just not hungry.

  30. I dont have a blog so I cant link back, but my favorite pre-workout food is definitely oatmeal, as long as I eat it well enough ahead of time. Afterwards I love to drink an Emergen-C and then some kind of smoothie (soy milk, kale, strawberries, mango, + flax seed!)

  31. I always have the same pre-workout fuel: whole wheat bread with a 1/2 T of PB. Works like a charm. Post workout, I have breakfast!

    Pre-workout, if I eat anything, it's almost always a handful of nuts. I like the protein kick.

    Post-workout I just stick with hydrating. And usually dinner follows closely (I work out at night).

    My favorite pre-workout snack is a handful of cereal….I am weird and get sick if I work out with too much food in my tummy!

  42. I like to work out in the morning so I usually eat breakfast first–my favortie is a ww english muffin with almond butter and blueberry preserves and some type of fruit. After I workout and get to work, I am always super starve-face, so I love cottage cheese mixed with cinnamon, cereal and berries.

    Post-workout: Breakfast! Steel-cut oats w/splash of almond milk, AB, blackberry preserves, cinnamon and nutmeg or Rolled oats w/greek yogurt, almond milk, blueberries, coconut, and cinnamon.

  82. Depending on the time of workout…it changes, but for early morning w/o I have 1/2 cheese stick, 1/2 c. applesauce and a few almonds or almond butter…must be at least 1 hour prior. Post, I have a big breakfast: eggs, fruit and more nuts for fat or avocado. 🙂 I almost never go a day without a Larabar. I love the Chocolate coconut sooo much. MMM. -Martha

    my favorite pre-workout snack when i run in the mornings is a slice of toast, although i like to mix it up with a banana or granola bar every once in a while. in the afternoons, it's usually fruit or granola bar.

    post-workout is breakfast! or…dinner 🙂
