A Camera Close Call

Heyyy everyone! I’m switchin’ it up and posting before I hit the sack tonight.

I’m so glad ya’ll liked my goals for 2010! Thanks for all of the encouragement and help, too. Seriously ya’ll know how to lift someone up! 😀 Not to mention, all of you had just as wonderful goals. I can’t wait to read more about ‘em!

Did you have a lovely Tuesday? Mine was quite peachy!

Woke up started this lovely Tuesday morning and made myself the usual green monster, and then some stove top oats:

  • ½ cup oats
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup canned pumpkin
  • 1 T agave
  • 1 t pumpkin butter
  • And a new friend! PB2

Gotta tell ya…still not too impressed with the PB2. I could barely even taste it. Maybe I need to add more? I only added one tbsp. Or perhaps I need to try it in a stirfry, like Bree suggested.

Either way, it didn’t ruin the oats, and they were delicious, per the ushe. In fact, it was a very fitting day for a nice, hot, bowl of oats. It was only 8 degrees out upon waking up. Single digits! Ekk!

Work wasn’t too shabby either. It’s the week before a holiday, again, so most people are gone, which allowed for some catch up on my part. Gotta love that 🙂

I broke for lunch around 11:30. And when I say broke for lunch, I mean, I ate this at my desk while I worked:

House salad! And when I say house salad, I mean this salad is as big as a house!

With a side of Mary’s crackers, and a yummy dessert of dark chocolate.

It’s so dark it’s black! I think that’s the highest % of cacao in chocolate I’ve ever had. Deeeelish.

I decided to skip my actual lunch “break” and eat at my desk, because I left work two hours early. One of my best friends, Heidi (I’ve mentioned her a couple times on here!) just had her baby, and it’s a girl!! It’s her first baby, and they waited until she was born to find out the sex, but I always knew it was a girl 😉 And obviously, no pictures because of privacy issues. But I will tell you, she’s got a head full of hair, and she is the most gorgeous baby ever! Takes after her mom and dad fo sho. Oh my uterus, was she ever adorable.

And although I can’t show you how adorable the baby is, I can show you this precious pink onsie that I picked up on the way to the hospital:

Baby and mama lurved it 🙂

I got home around 5, and it was time to get my work out on.

I don’t think I mentioned it on here, but the other day when we had company over, I took a really hard fall in the kitchen. It was wet, and snowy, and somehow I slipped, and my feet went over my head, and I landed on my left hip. It was one of those bad falls that ends with a big KABOOM. Well, yesterday after running 3.5 miles and doing the step mill for another 15 minutes, my body was not happy with me. My hip is killing me, my knee hurts, and my side is in pain. Pretty much my whole left side of my body hates me.

With that said, I took it easy on the workout front, and did a 75 minute yoga podcast instead. It was intense, and I was dripping with sweat by the end of it. Easy Schmeasy. However, my left side did really enjoy the hip-opening exercises. I am really loving the yoga lately. Although I’ve said it before, I really, really wish there was a good yoga studio in this town.

I didn’t realize how hungry I was until I finished yoga. As soon as I came out of shavasana, my stomach was a-roaring for some foods!

Enter: Leftovers

These lasagna rolls I made on Sunday were SO delicious, I was happy to eat them again tonight as leftovers. Which reminds me – a few of you asked for the recipe for the his and hers versions for these roll ups. I’d be happy to put to share:) Look for a post on them here in a couple days!

With the lasagna, I steamed some broccoli and drizzled just a bit of organic honey mustard on it:

Yumtopia. I have a feeling I’ll be eating this combination until that big bag of broccoli in my fridge is gone!

With the meal I had a small glass of Da Vinci Chianti:

And then just after I took this picture, the camera (THE camera – my dad’s 40D Cannon) stopped taking pictures. After freaking out for a bit and fumbling through the settings myself, I gave up, and surrendered it to the hubski. He, then fumbled around with it for a good 10-20 minutes, and then finally shouted, “It’s back to normal!!”

*Phew!!* I didn’t think that I broke it, although it was in the back of my mind. That would not have been a fun conversation to have with my dad. Don’t worry, Dad, all is well 🙂 I love that camera and all, but I don’t know that I could ever own one. Those things are WAY too expensive for my clumsiness. Being completely honest, I have ruined/lost probably four nice cameras in the past six years. I’m horrible with cameras. However, that might change with an uber nice one. I said the same thing about sunglasses until I switched from the cheapies to more expensive ones, and I still have every pair of nice ones I own!

Well boys and girls, it’s past my bedtime. Better head up!

Do you have a super nice camera? Does it make you nervous to bring it places? I don’t know…I’d be afraid I’d break it, or you know, leave it on a bus in a foreign country or something.

Have a Wonderful Wednesday! This week is going by fast!! 😀

  1. Wow, those lasagne rolls look delicious! I’m eagerly awaiting the recipe 🙂
    Cute baby outfit!
I hope your injury is not too bad and you can get back out on the road again soon. 🙂

  2. Aww, that sucks about your hip 😦 Whenever a clumsy or stupid injury puts me out of regular exercise, I just tell myself it’s god’s way of “slowing me down.” Sometimes I forget to take little breaks here and there, so a forced on is sometimes needed! 😉

I’m SO paranoid I’m going to do something to my new SLR. I’m keeping my point and shoot to cart around with me, but I’d also like to get a nice camera bag that can double as a purse when I go to restaurants and stuff.

  3. Um I’m totally paranoid about my new SLR, but, like Susan, I’m contemplating a more styling bag so I’m less panicky about taking it places.

Hope you are feeling better soon and congrats to your friend! New babies are the BEST!

  4. Lasagna roll ups are so clever- I love it! Can’t wait to see how you tweaked it to make it “yours”. I am one of the clumsiest people I know, I am ALWAYS breaking things/falling/slipping/tripping. I mean, who else can break 4 can openers in a row? Now THAT’S talent 😉

I haven’t had many places to take my new camera, but the boyfriend did plan ahead and get me a real snazzy (HUGELY) padded bag for it, so it will probably travel with me quite a bit 🙂

  5. The lasagna roll ups look so good! Looking forward to your recipe!

I’m glad your camera was okay!

  6. If I had a super nice camera I’d definitely be scared to take it anywhere! Sorry about your fall, I hope your hip is ok! I did just about the same thing the other day, only I was mid-picture and I definitely completely busted my camera 😦

  7. Congrats to Heidi!!! That outfit is adorable. 🙂

And sorry to hear about your fall, but at least you’re still able to enjoy yoga! Yoga Download has some excellent hip opening podcasts you should try out if you think that’s helping. Just take it easy and keep an eye on it!

  8. Hey Paige! I hope your hip and soreness recovers quickly. Perhaps you should become a yoga instructor. The yoga studio in town doesn’t have class times that really go with the working girl’s schedule. You could have lessons at one of the dance stuidos in town. I know that McLean County Dance has a Pilates instructor. I was just thinking that using a dance studio would be a way to get a course out there without having to provide a space. Or become a yoga instructor for hire to come to someone’s house. Just a thought. 🙂

  9. Those lasagna roll ups look awesome – looking forward to the recipe. I hope you feel better soon!

  10. I hope that your hip feels better soon! Hip pain is the worst. Congrats to your friend! It’s wild that we’re at the age where our friends start having babies. I just have a point and shoot camera. My dad has an uber cool Nikon DSLR with lots of fancy attachments that I am afraid to even go near. Too intimidating!

  11. I hope your hip is feeling better! I’ve been falling a lot lately – slipped on icy steps at my inlaws last weekend, fell in the yard last night taking the puppy out…strange.

  12. hahahaha love the term house salad 🙂 that is cool that your friends waited to see the sex~people NEVER do that! haha”oh my uterus”~you are really funny in this post, paige! whew~glad the close call with the camera was resolved successfully!

  13. yum yum lasagna rolls! what a unique idea!!

PB2 is OK…I like it mixed in greek yog or cottage cheese, if you couldnt taste it try adding a bit more!

  14. Sorry about the fall girl! Hope you heal up quickly.

I have a really nice SLR that I bought back when I did journalism photography in high school. I only use it at home and occasionally take it out to do nature stuff or on nice vacations but for everything else I use my point and shoot. I’m clumsy too!

  15. I hope your hip feels better soon! Ouch! I bet you have some really deep bruises.

I just have a Canon point and shoot! I would be nervous with a super nice camera.

  16. Glad to see Chianti bottles anytime!

I don’t have a nice camera, but I think my next “big” purchase will be a Nikon 🙂

  17. I wish I had a super nice camera! I just have your average point-and-shoot!

LOL did you say “Oh my uterus”?!! ahahaha!

  18. Camera is not super nice. DEcent but not super nice. After the 1st month any new toy’s expensive factor wears off though and I get wayyyy more lax with how much i sling it and drop it around LOL

I’ve been up for 26 hrs. I am truly insane. Get home after 3+ weeks away, go groc shopping at 1am, unpack everyone, do the mail, and then crack the google reader. Yes, I love my bloggie friends 🙂

Anyway the brock salad w/ honey mustard and the new baby…awesome. Tell your friend not to overdo it, and enjoy these tender moments even though she will feel like she’s nursing all the time(she will be!) they do grow up so fast. As i sound like a grandma and mine’s only not even quite 3 yrs LOL

  19. […] but this one takes the cake cookie, folks. With that said, I’ve FINALLY found something that I like PB2 in. A breakfast […]
