Separation Anxiety

Howdy!

After my speedy four miler yesterday morning, I had a hankering for some hot oats. But now oats in a bowl…

It was worth every sweat bead that hot oats after a hot summer run like this produces.

Then I got ready and zipped off to the office for a bit. Around mid morning, I decided I’d take a long lunch, so I came back home and took advantage of the glorious day by taking Niko for another quick stroll.

Lunch was a wrap! Quick and easy always does the trick.

I really miss the pets now that I’m gone during the day again. It was really hard to leave and come back to work. Is it uber pathetic to have separation anxiety from your pets?!

Then I went back to work for the afternoon to learn about the job of who I’m replacing. Fun schtuff.

Last night was volleyball night, but it was a late-ish one, so I had a couple hours to get some work done and relax beforehand.

I completely thought I was pouring Mary’s Sticks and Twigs on my chili, when I noticed that it wasn’t sticks and twigs at all, but Eden’s Blue Hot chips! And ya know what? Eden’s Blue Hot chips make a darn good chili topper!

I had another beer after while playing volleyball (we won! And my mad skillz are back!) and then came home for a snack before bed:

Well, I need some breakfast in my belly. This morning I had a morning client and then cranked out 45 minutes of cardio between the stair climber and elliptical, and I’m famished!

Cuckoo for KooLoos

Hi there friends! How goes it? Celebrating the Irish?

The extent of my celebrating was wearing green and drinking this:

one beer (one’s for the husband) and it’s not even green! I just never really got into St. Patrick’s Day much for some reason. Can’t complain – I’m watching 24 right now instead of working with Quick Books. So I’m happy 😀

I finally got in a killer lower body workout this morning before work. First I did 20 minutes on the elliptical, and then did the following circuits each three times through:

one legged squats right and left 15 lb dumbbells
calf raises 15 lb dumbbells
straight leg deadlifts 15 lb dumbbells

 

stability ball hamstring curl body weight
plie squat 15 lb dumbbells
lunges left and right leg 10 lb dumbbells

 

My booty was burnin’ by the end of it, and I’m already feelin’ it now!

Breakfast was one I haven’t had in a while…some yoatgurt!

1/3 c. oat bran, 1/2 c. almond milk, 1/2 c. water, 1 banana, 1 T. flax, 1 packet of Purevia, 1 T. chia seeds on the oaty side, and 3/4 c. Greek yogurt and cinnamon on the yogey side. Plus a big blob of TJ’s raw almond butter.

Work passed by like a flash yet again today. I can’t believe tomorrow’s already Thursday! It’s been a busy week personal training, too. I’ve had to train every night this week, and it’s looking like that’s how it’s going to be the next few weeks too. I’m definitely not complaining about it, though!

For lunch, I decided to try out some of the snacks that Shelley and Shaina from Seapoint Farms sent me to sample!

KooLoos! I was super excited to try these out, because I’ve never seen them elsewhere before, and was very intrigued my the description. They’re crunchy little baked snacks of organic flaxseed and organic soybeans .

One serving of KooLoos contains Omega 3’s, 7 grams of soy protein, 20 mg of isoflavones, and three grams of fiber!

So, how do they taste?

My favorite was the original by far. I absolutely love the crunchy texture, and the slightly salty and nutty flavor. The husband tried them all too, and he prefers the honey bbq.

I haven’t seen them in stores yet, but according to Shaina, they’ll be hitting stores soon, and I could definitely see myself buying some when they’re gone 🙂

After leaving the office, I headed to the gym to train a client. It was so incredibly nice out – 60’s and sunnnny! Instead of training for the whole hour in the gym, we headed to the trail by the gym and did the first half of her workout outdoors. It was very nice for a change of pace. I think she enjoyed it too 😀 I seriously love springing ahead!!

For dinner, I had planned on having a staple Ezekiel tortilla pizza. However, while toasting the tortilla, I was also cooking sweet potatoes and chicken in the oven, and well…see for yourself:

It was the last one in the package, so I had to make with do.

Sorry that my dinners have been pretty boring lately. I swear they’re all still delicious, it’s just that the amount of free time I have available has been dwindling, and well, creative and time-intensive dinners have taken the toll. It should get better fairly soon, though. Not intending to stay this busy for too much longer 😉

Now I’m about to watch some Big Bang Theory with the hubski and perhaps snack on some Annie’s Bunny Graham’s just ate probably 2.5 servings of Bunny Graham’s while uploading pictures and editing this post. Woops…

Power Yoga Oatmeal

Happy Saturday!

I’m awake bright and early for the launch class of Power Yoga at 8:00. I’ve never been before, so I’m supah excited to try it out. Hope I like it!

Yesterday morning I woke up to look out the window and saw that it was light outside. First though: Hm, that’s nice. Second though: Crap! I’m late for work!!!

With all the snow day antics on Thursday, I must have turned off the alarm. Oh well, we were just an hour late for work, so we stayed an hour late (11:30 – more like 12, though.) Plus, I got a much needed extra two hours of sleep.

After work, I set off to do the usual gym time and grocery store stops. Got in a nice cardio work out at the gym, and then made a couple stops at a couple grocery stores, gathering all the necessities. However, I didn’t sit down and make a meal plan this week, so the groceries were kind of haphazard. I also had to make a stop by the Tarjay to pick up a baby gift for a neighbor’s daughter’s shower.

 

After getting home, I was finally able to eat some dinner. And I was craving nothing but a big as your house salad. I had picked up a bottle of Goddess dressing (finally!!) at the store, and couldn’t wait to use it on a salad:

After devouring, I was off to Bunco with the girls. The night was FULL of laughs. It seemed like everyone brought out their inner rowdiness, which always makes for a good time. A few extra drinks doesn’t hurt either 😉 And the icing on the cake? I won!! It’s been a while since I won, so I thanked everyone and told them I had fun taking their money before we peaced out 😀

 

Which brings us to this morning. I woke up around 6:30, so I could make a nice big bowl of oats and have a big cup of coffee.

With a blob of peanut butter and some TJ’s pumpkin butter = yummay in my tummay.

Have I told you I’ve stopped putting sweetener in my coffee? I just got sick of trying to decide if I should do cane sugar, stevia, a stevia blend, etc. So I just said screw it, and nixed it altogether. Problem solved, and with a few extra pennies in the piggy bank at that.

 

Well, friends, I need to go get ready for Power Yoga! The description says Be prepared to sweat! Exceeellllent😀

What type of sweetener do you put in your coffee/tea? I’ve gone from sweetened creamer (aka white, liquid chemicals ;)) to sweet n low (which made my upper stomach hurt – weird,) to cane sugar, to stevia, to NADA!

Wellness Fair

Today at work was Live Well, Be Well day. And to celebrate, they held a Wellness Fair! I couldn’t take pictures, because it’s against the rules at work to take pictures of the company property, but it was really cool 😀

They had about 15 vendor booths lined up in the atrium about everywhere from diabetes prevention to benefits of organic foods. I picked up quite a few pamphlets and a few other goodies!

And I just now found out that the company I work at gets a 10% discount at our local Organic/Natural Food store – Naturally Yours. Gahh!! How have I not known this? I’ve taken many a trip to this store without doing a badge flash. Good to know for next time, though!

They also had a body fat analyzer there, too. I had to get in on this! I’ve never had my body fat % taken from an official reader. It’s the one they use in the local hospitals. I was a little unpleasantly surprised when my body fat percent was in the “average” zone. I like to think I’m a little more toned than the average person. Oh well – it’s another incentive to make sure I get in my strength training!

I wore one of my Live Well, Be Well shirts when I worked out on my elliptical after work:

Yeah…all the had left were X-L haha. I didn’t care. I looove T-shirts (why do you think I’m signed up for all these races?! kidding, kidding ;)) I’ll just wash em in hot, right?

Eats at work weren’t all that exciting besides the fact that I love, love, loved the Barney Butter on my banana, almond butter and hemp bread sandwich! No picture, because I was crazy busy at work today (I had to eat lunch while working) but let me tell you, it was delicioso to the max.

Speaking of work, it’s kind of stressing me out right now. I stayed late today so I could finish what I was working on, and I’m a firm believer of leaving on time 😉 haha. Looks like I’ll have to practice what I preach and put some of my stress management tips into motion.

So after workin’ it out in my (super large) white tee, I got to cooking some dinner. It was nothing special tonight – Annie’s Whole Wheat White Cheddar Shells and Cheese. I spruced it up a little with some browned ground turkey:

It was pretty good. In my opinion it needed more cheese, though. However, I’ve always been one to add two packets of cheese for every one box of macaroni – ha! My veggies were lackin’ today so I kicked that number up a notch with some carrots, cauliflour, and broccoli!

Mmm so good with just a lil’ butter and sea salt!


Well, mine only had butter and sea salt. Apparently I took a picture of Shane’s version, which had some cheddar cheese on top!

I’m so excited tomorrow’s Friday! For a half day, I sure packed it full though. After work, I’m going to see if I can get Niko in at the groomer’s. Then a little later, I signed up for a zumba class (my first!) from 4:30-6:30. It’s actually a zumba extravaganza (Healthy Madison would be so proud!!) A friend and I signed up today, because they had some zumba dancers at the Wellness Fair. Even though tomorrow’s supposed to be a rest day, as it’s the day before a 5K race, I couldn’t pass it up. I looked at it as a now or never type of dealio. They offer it at my gym too, but I always wanted to take it with someone else I know – and now’s my chance!! I’ll just take it easy and not push myself.

After zumba, it’s straight to Bunco night! Yikes..Friday’s aren’t supposed to be so daunting. At least it’s a daunting of funness I guess 😀

We Don’t Need to Divorce Afterall

So, now I can talk about this. Yesterday, I got home from work, and asked my dear husband how his day was.

Hubski: “It wasn’t too bad. Then I went to the gym. It turned back.”

Me: “What’s wrong? Didja pull something?”

Hubski: “No…(sad face) I lost my wedding band.”

Me: “Shut up no you didn’t”

Huski: Shows me his ringless hand.

Me: tear….

Husband lost his wedding band in the month of our year anniversary. We were both so upset, him more than I even. I just felt so bad for him. He searched the gym, his gym bag, and retraced his steps. We were both distraught.

Then, today before work he decided to try one more look at the gym. He even went to the parking lot to look. Off on the grassy area by where he parked….

…HE FOUND IT!!

I literally got a text saying this: “I FOUND IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
I couldn’t believe it! I even joked saying that we didn’t have to get a divorce afterall! I don’t think he found that too funny, heh heh. Oh I’m so glad he found it. How lucky is that?

I wasn’t going to say anything on here for a while unless he found it, because, well, that just makes for a sad story. Now I can tell you guys the story with the happy ending. All is well 😀

On to last night’s dinna 🙂

It was pretty much a hodge podge dinner. I planned on making turkey burgers, and since Shane’s convinced he hates turkey burger, I had to come up with something else for him. So here are all the foods I made last night:

(Pre-grilled) I seasoned it with cumin, and salt and pepper, and then added chopped bell pepper and onion.

I also made Annie’s mac n cheese (for Shane, but I nibbled), Campbell’s chunky chowder (for Shane), sweet potato fries, and some Great Harvest Bread.

I was in a food coma after this meal. Luckily one of my besties called, so she gave me an excuse to just lay on the couch and veg while catching up. A glass of wine may or may not have been consumed 😉

Frisbee Golf and a Frozen Pizza

Hi all! Hope your hump day finished well! I had planned on coming home and doing laundry, but another couple came over about 10 minutes after I got home, and asked us to go Frisbee golf or “discin” as we call it. We took off around 5:30, and didn’t get back until about 7:45 because we played all 18 holes. I sucked, as usual, but had a blast!

Plus, it was SO nice out, and the course has some really pretty views:

Since we didn’t get home until about 8, Shane and I decided to just pop in a Wolf Gang Puck pizza for dinner.

I added extra tomatoes to mine, since it didn’t have much nutritional value by itself:


It was kind of smallish, so we bickered for a bit over who would go get us frozen yogurt. We both won lost and neither of us went! haha I needed a night to relax from my hectic day, and he, well, was just lazy 😛 (kidding, babe.)

So I settled on some Annie’s Homegrown Bunny Friends:

Then, I got to work on Operation Streamline!

I need to leave the house in the morning, not feeling stressed, so in order to help, I thought of all the things I do in the morning that are sort of last minute, or that I see myself literally running to do. I decided to do these things last night instead!

First, I went downstairs and laid out exactly what I was going to wear to work today, and then did the same for my workout clothes.

Next was the kitchen. First I made my sandwich, and packed my lunch and snacks for the day. Secondly, I put in a bowl most of my green monster ingredients for the morning, and stuck it in the freezer:

Finally, I prepared this morning’s breakfast:


What a better way to grab a fast breakfast than overnight oats? I added these ingredients right before I went to bed and turned on the slow cooker.


I think all of this actually helped! I had to be at the gym this morning by 4:45 to get my run in. I’m meeting some girlfriends for Mexican food tonight, so I knew I couldn’t fit it in after work. And whenever I workout in the morning, I’m also pressed for time. Who am I kidding, I’m always pressed for time.

With that said, i think spending these few extra minutes a night to help me spare time rummaging through drawers and cupboards will help me leave the house feeling more calm, cool, and collected.

Staycation Day #1 Ends Early

I guess staycations really wear you out because I was in bed by 10:30, and the hubski fell asleep in the movie chairs downstairs by 9:30! baha!

Let me back up. This could have been from the copious amount of food we ate throughout the night.

We wanted something quick and easy for dinner, but didn’t want to eat out or order in since we did that last night. I remembered I had Annie’s Homegrown Mac and Cheese

and then thought of pairing it with some chicken and Annie’s Homegrown BBQ sauce!

First I put some rub on the chicken:


Plopped it in the oven for a bit, then brushed it with the goods:


Meanwhile, I started on the Mac n Cheese.

I drained it in this cute little Tupperware colander (my SIL sells it, people.) It starts out like this:


And then pops out to this!


It’s super great for storage 😀

While cooking, I enjoyed some Tazo AWAKE tea, and saw this beautiful rainbow!


I heated up some frozen veggies, and voila~ we had a meal.


Not so fast…adding to our meal was some hemp bread + this little heavenly ingredient:


Holy now my favorite nut butter.

Oh man! was this stuff good. And it’s Maranatha’s! Yum topia, seriously.

The dinner ended up splendid, even though it was super easy to make and didn’t require much culinary talent. However, next time, I have to say, I’ll add less milk to the cheese mixture in the mac n cheese. The instructed amount left it a little too runny.

After we took Niko for a walk around the neighborhood (at an extremely leisurely pace,) we were so caught up in our staycation celebration, that we (yes, he helped) decided to end my dessert-less week a night early, and get some froyo.


Hey…looking at that, b It had vanilla fro yo, frozen strawberries, bananas, and coconut. It tasted like an island dream 😉

So a couple OTH eppies later and we were both ready for bed. Oh well, gotta love that sleep stuff 😉

Now I’m off to a body pump class (haven’t done this in weeks, yikes!) with my girl Heidi. I had the best small breakfast concoction to give me a little fuel for it.


It was just a frozen banana, 1.5 T of choc. almond butter, ice, and stevia! It’s seriously delicious. And since I plan on doing a little cardio after class, I needed something in my body to give me some fuel.
What’s your favorite class at your gym/past gyms? I’d have to say my favorite was a yoga class at my old gym. The instructor made it a tough vinyasa class, and nothing else. Now they all seem to try yogalates or a fusion of something and another.
