Running with Blends

Hey there:)

I’ll start this Saturday post off by sharing with your meal one of Vita-Mix month!

Fill er’ up!

Pretty exciting, eh? 😉

This is a classic smoothie I make – a Chocolate Mint green monster. As the month progresses, my Vita-Mix creativity will too, I swear hope.

The secret ingredient is mint leaves from our garden! I love our mint chocolate plant, but it is soooo aggressive.

When I went to snip off some leaves, I had to cut it down something fierce. The mint + Vega Choc-a-Lot Shake and Go (which is now gone, sniff sniff:( ) makes a gooood tasting smoothie!

I ate this after getting home from doing the full body lifting routine I posted yesterday. It was tough, and both my quads, chest, and triceps aren’t letting me forget it this morning;)

After some cleaning, relaxing, and Glee re-watching, I started to get ready for workout #2 of the day. I usually don’t do two a days, but this was a special workout. I was meeting some Bloomington/Normal bloggers for a run/walk! 😀

Pre- run/walk fuelage:

I used one of my Arnold’s coupons from the Healthy Living Summit this year to buy a package of Fill ‘Ems, Arnold’s bun-version of the sandwich thin.

As you can see, I wasn’t able to fill it very well, but it did the job – and it was yummy! Spinach, tomato, avocado, red bell pepper, + hummus.

Then I was off to meet the girls on a running trail in town!

Laura, Lindsay, Christine, and me. Love Blogger friends! (Blends)

We all had such a great time! I had met Lindsay and Christine before, but it was my first time meeting Laura. It was so nice to meet you, Laura! My Garmin died about 5 minutes into the run (typical) but Christine let us know we ran about 3.9 miles and walked even more. We were out for about an hour and a half and the time FLEW because we were gabbing the whole time.

I kinda lost track of time, because I meant to get home by 6:00 to meet my parents for dinner!

But after the quickest shower in the world, a little spray dry shampoo, and a makeup reapplication, we were out the door. We went to Olive Garden and it was one of those nights where I just forgot to take pictures of anything, y’know? How exciting is Olive Garden really, though? We’ve all been there 🙂 But I ordered the whole wheat linguini pomodoro and had 1.5 breadsticks and some salad. And I was stuffed!

Even too stuffed to have one of Lindsay’s mom’s famous cookies she gave us today:

The husband and I started a True Blood episode when we got home, but when it ended we were both fast asleep and it was only 10:00. After trudging upstairs to bed, we amazingly slept another nine hours!! I’m never able to do that anymore, so it felt awwwesome.

Today it’s pretty rainy around here, but I’m working at the gym a good part of the day anyway, so that’s just fine with me:

I hope everyone has an awesome Saturday!!

What are you weekend plans this weekend? Aside from my 10 miler on Sunday, I hope to take it pretty easy, because this coming week is very heavy on the work-side.

**I am bound and determined to finish my new blogroll this weekend. If you’d like to be on it, and are not on my current blog roll, please let me know! (Also obviously adding everyone in my Reader:))

There’s Room to ‘Loom

Hola! How’s it goin’ friends?

Yesterday was finally a productive day. The to-do list got to-done all the while the day remained relaxed.

Reason #gazillion why I love having a nonstandard work week:

At approximately 1:00 yesterday afternoon, I stood in my kitchen and relaxingly sliced an heirloom tomato to place on a sandwich.

This doesn’t happen at a 9-5 job! At a 9-5 job, I’d take my lunch out of my lunch pack, and either throw it in the microwave, or eat it cold.

Nevermind the fact that today that’s exactly what I’ll be doing. Yesterday, it wasn’t.

An or-ange heirloom tomato + avocado + balsamic reduction + raw sharp cheddar on a multigrain Arnold Sandwich thin.

Plus salsa + Blue Hot chips and cantaloupe + balsamic reduction

I love taking the time to make a meal in the middle of the day – even if it’s as simple as a tomato sandwich 🙂

Before training a client yesterday evening, I had the pleasure of meeting Lindsay, another local blogger here in Bloomington/Normal. Lindsay and I have talked for quite some time now, and even ran into each other at the grocery store, but haven’t really officially “met” until yesterday! We had plans of meeting on the trail for a run, but about a half hour before meeting, it started to rain. So we met at the gym instead!

Today was an easy run day, so I ran about 3.5 miles with an average pace of about 9:30.

Lindsay ran alongside me, and mentioned it’d been quite some time since she’d run as long as she had, since she’s been focusing on classes more instead. It was a great workout for us both! Lindsay was super sweet, and we chatted the entire time and it just flew by!

After our run, Lindsay handed me a bright green bag:

Inside was a super cute puppy dog mug      IMG_9238

and some cookies that are basically melt-in-your-mouth delicious:

Heh heh

Can’t wait to meet up for our next run, Lindsay! 😀

Off to work, work, work. My workday today consists of the hours 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. Ay, ay, ay. The husband mentioned he thinks I should take a break from taking on any new clients until I have a couple drop off. I think he may be right!

Which fellow bloggers do you know of where you live, if any? I’ve only met Lindsay here in town, but there’s also a couple others who live in the area! And then there’s of course my Chicago Crew of bloggers 😀

Cop out, completely unrelated question: Any tips for brushing a dog or cat’s teeth?!

I took Niko to the vet the other day and the vet recommended starting tooth-care now. So I bought a crap ton of supplies and some really fun kid-sized brushes. But all Niko did was twisted and turned and convulsed until I threw in the towel.

The Indian Food Bar is Set

I’m not sure I’ll ever enjoy Indian food in Bloomington/Normal again.

On Saturday night, I went out to a restaurant called the Chicago Curry House with a bunch of lovely bloggers for a dinner Gina organized:

The peeps:

Amazing company! Still so stoked with all the awesome women (and men) I met this weekend.

Since there were several Indian food virgins, the group decided to dine family-style with several veggie options, starting with a fantastic starter of papadum and dippers:

a yummy, sweet Riesling:

and plates of veggie appetizers:

Now, by this point, I was sold. Sold! Already better than anything I’ve tasted at any other Indian restaurant.

But then the bread came. The naan and roti won over my heart.

Naan…the most soft, pillowy, thick naan I’ve ever set my eyes tongue on 🙂

And this roti changed my opinion on the usually lesser dense, crackly bread. It was just as soft and chewy as the naan! I could have eaten my own basket, honestly 😛

The entree was Chana Masala and Baigan Bharta:

Subtly sweet and amazing.

Spicy and velvety – as Laura (I think it was her..) described it.

Best Indian food experience eva!

So when Shane picked me up from the train station last night after getting home from the Healthy Living Summit, and immediately asked if I wanted to grab Indian food, I surprisingly thought it sounded good too. Indian two nights in a row? Why not?

Welll….maybe I should have waited a few days for my memory to fade of how fantastic the food at the Curry House was…

My Indian food bar is set too high! This Yellow Dal just didn’t cut it 😉

Well I’m taking today as a catch up day. A couple clients, deep cleaning of the house, grocery shopping, and LAUNDRY. Oh, and I have about a billion new blogs to read after this weekend 😀
