Camera Confessions

Confession: Since Christmas, I have had all this camera equipment in my position, and I have only played with two lenses:

I know! I know. The camera gods are shaking their heads in SHAME right now. So is my dad, to whom this equipment originally belonged (still belongs?)

I use the camera itself (Canon 40D,) the Canon 50mm lens, the Tamron 18-250 mm lens, and the 420EX Speedlite flash from time to time.

So after taking Niko on a nice long walk and getting in an upper body weights sesh, I decided it was time to change that.

I poured myself a green monster:

…set up camp in the kichen, and for the past three hours have been Googling the crap out of my camera equipment. I now know about my wide-angle lens, filters, teleconverter, and have given myself a little refreshment on ISO and aperture (which I’m still not 100% clear – heh- about.)

Obviously Shane and I didn’t go to IKEA today. Decided we both just didn’t want to spend an extra four hours in the car on our Saturday. Sadly, that means no trip to Trader Joe’s either. On the flip side, it meant getting a little extra shut eye:

And eating breakfast a little more leisurely:

That’s seriously just a big mess in a bowl. A big, delicious mess of dry oats, protein powder (my last of Mr. Robb – tear!) maca, chia seeds, almond milk, kashi, and almond butter! It’s the next era of cereal.

However, it couldn’t beat last night’s dinner… polentil!

It’s a fantastic day here in central Illinois, so the husband and I are planning on riding our bikes to a cute little vegetarian restaurant downtown. Haven’t been there since my birthday!

Have a lovely Saturday, everyone!

Did you get to sleep in on your Saturday? Whatcha up to today??

Find a Camera, Pick it Up

Morning everyone!

Soooo…remember that time I went to Mexico and lost my point and shoot camera along with all the pictures on the interlaying SD card? That wasn’t the first time I’ve lost a camera. In fact, my family and I have joked that I just can NOT keep cameras. Honestly, I think I’ve either ruined or lost 5 or 6 point and shoots in my life.

Well, make that 6 or 7. Yep. Oops…I did it again. Last night Shane and I went on a super cute date to Uptown (formerly known as Downtown…whatever) Normal and brought the pup along for pizza and beer, walked along the brand new huge fountain, and then to an ice cream shop. The pictures were super cute too. I promise, they were. However, I have no proof, as I left my point and shoot on the super cute bench we sat and ate our ice cream on. Trust there were pictures of beer, veggie pizza, big fountains, blueberry ice cream, and yours truly. I went back to the spot this morning, alas someone else had found it and picked it up for their own. Darn.

My dad and I are already searching for deals on nice point and shoot cameras for a replacement. You know, so I can lose that one, too. I’m pretty sure we’re trying to get me in the Guinness book of world records for most cameras lost. Ever 😉 My dad thinks I’m just trying to share the wealth. I’m charitable like that 😉

So instead of super cute date pictures, I have fooood pictures!

Overnight oats w/ feta crumbled coconut butter on top

This was eaten after a 3.15 mile run this morning. I was aiming for 9:15-9:30 pace, and it ended up being 9:06. I did, however, have negative splits which is a bonus in my book.

Just to let you guys know – my running bug is back. I’m currently training for a half marathon. When is the half? I’m not sure. The Chicago Rock n Roll half is already booked, but my cousin Bronwyn is going to try and see if we can form a team (she and my other cousin and aunt are already signed up) that I can join! 🙂 If not, I’ll run the Chicago Half Marathon in September. I haven’t created an official training plan, but I’m loosely basing if off of my first half marathon training plan.

I’m about to head off to the gym to work and train some clients, but lunch will be this lovely veggie wrap:

it contains portabella, cucumber, spinach, and hummus.

I need a little pep, so I’m currently finishing off the French Press in the form of iced coffeeee!

Well I’m off to work, and then to a local winery! Hope to see you back tomorrow with some pictures from a new point and shoot (I’ll never learn!) 😉

Is there one thing that you lose/damage every time you have one? For me it’s obviously cameras. When I was in high school, though, I probably lost my school ID once a week. It got pretty ridiculous!

A Camera Close Call

Heyyy everyone! I’m switchin’ it up and posting before I hit the sack tonight.

I’m so glad ya’ll liked my goals for 2010! Thanks for all of the encouragement and help, too. Seriously ya’ll know how to lift someone up! 😀 Not to mention, all of you had just as wonderful goals. I can’t wait to read more about ‘em!

Did you have a lovely Tuesday? Mine was quite peachy!

Woke up started this lovely Tuesday morning and made myself the usual green monster, and then some stove top oats:

  • ½ cup oats
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup canned pumpkin
  • 1 T agave
  • 1 t pumpkin butter
  • And a new friend! PB2

Gotta tell ya…still not too impressed with the PB2. I could barely even taste it. Maybe I need to add more? I only added one tbsp. Or perhaps I need to try it in a stirfry, like Bree suggested.

Either way, it didn’t ruin the oats, and they were delicious, per the ushe. In fact, it was a very fitting day for a nice, hot, bowl of oats. It was only 8 degrees out upon waking up. Single digits! Ekk!

Work wasn’t too shabby either. It’s the week before a holiday, again, so most people are gone, which allowed for some catch up on my part. Gotta love that 🙂

I broke for lunch around 11:30. And when I say broke for lunch, I mean, I ate this at my desk while I worked:

House salad! And when I say house salad, I mean this salad is as big as a house!

With a side of Mary’s crackers, and a yummy dessert of dark chocolate.

It’s so dark it’s black! I think that’s the highest % of cacao in chocolate I’ve ever had. Deeeelish.

I decided to skip my actual lunch “break” and eat at my desk, because I left work two hours early. One of my best friends, Heidi (I’ve mentioned her a couple times on here!) just had her baby, and it’s a girl!! It’s her first baby, and they waited until she was born to find out the sex, but I always knew it was a girl 😉 And obviously, no pictures because of privacy issues. But I will tell you, she’s got a head full of hair, and she is the most gorgeous baby ever! Takes after her mom and dad fo sho. Oh my uterus, was she ever adorable.

And although I can’t show you how adorable the baby is, I can show you this precious pink onsie that I picked up on the way to the hospital:

Baby and mama lurved it 🙂

I got home around 5, and it was time to get my work out on.

I don’t think I mentioned it on here, but the other day when we had company over, I took a really hard fall in the kitchen. It was wet, and snowy, and somehow I slipped, and my feet went over my head, and I landed on my left hip. It was one of those bad falls that ends with a big KABOOM. Well, yesterday after running 3.5 miles and doing the step mill for another 15 minutes, my body was not happy with me. My hip is killing me, my knee hurts, and my side is in pain. Pretty much my whole left side of my body hates me.

With that said, I took it easy on the workout front, and did a 75 minute yoga podcast instead. It was intense, and I was dripping with sweat by the end of it. Easy Schmeasy. However, my left side did really enjoy the hip-opening exercises. I am really loving the yoga lately. Although I’ve said it before, I really, really wish there was a good yoga studio in this town.

I didn’t realize how hungry I was until I finished yoga. As soon as I came out of shavasana, my stomach was a-roaring for some foods!

Enter: Leftovers

These lasagna rolls I made on Sunday were SO delicious, I was happy to eat them again tonight as leftovers. Which reminds me – a few of you asked for the recipe for the his and hers versions for these roll ups. I’d be happy to put to share:) Look for a post on them here in a couple days!

With the lasagna, I steamed some broccoli and drizzled just a bit of organic honey mustard on it:

Yumtopia. I have a feeling I’ll be eating this combination until that big bag of broccoli in my fridge is gone!

With the meal I had a small glass of Da Vinci Chianti:

And then just after I took this picture, the camera (THE camera – my dad’s 40D Cannon) stopped taking pictures. After freaking out for a bit and fumbling through the settings myself, I gave up, and surrendered it to the hubski. He, then fumbled around with it for a good 10-20 minutes, and then finally shouted, “It’s back to normal!!”

*Phew!!* I didn’t think that I broke it, although it was in the back of my mind. That would not have been a fun conversation to have with my dad. Don’t worry, Dad, all is well 🙂 I love that camera and all, but I don’t know that I could ever own one. Those things are WAY too expensive for my clumsiness. Being completely honest, I have ruined/lost probably four nice cameras in the past six years. I’m horrible with cameras. However, that might change with an uber nice one. I said the same thing about sunglasses until I switched from the cheapies to more expensive ones, and I still have every pair of nice ones I own!

Well boys and girls, it’s past my bedtime. Better head up!

Do you have a super nice camera? Does it make you nervous to bring it places? I don’t know…I’d be afraid I’d break it, or you know, leave it on a bus in a foreign country or something.

Have a Wonderful Wednesday! This week is going by fast!! 😀
