Exercise ADD

Good afternoon!

Happy Friday, guys:) Hope you’ve had a splendid week!

Yesterday morning I rescheduled all of my morning clients to the afternoon so I could sleep in a bit from my late night the night before.  However, I’m a product of habit – routines are the death of me! Alas, I woke up bright and early at 6:15 anyway.

For breakfast, I had a fierce craving for oatmeal, but was out of bananas! Well, bananas that weren’t either flattened or frozen anyway. What to do, what to do?

Use apples!

I also added an egg white to the mix to fluffen it up a bit. The apple were delicious in the oats! Perhaps even better than the usual banana.

After this digested, I cranked out a 30 minute HIIT session on the elliptical..finally. It was one of those days where I had workout ADD. First, I got out my bike, and planned to bike to the gym, do a little lifting, and bike home. But as soon as I peddled out of my neighborhood, I chickened out and came back home. I’ve never done this before, I was helmetless, and it was FOGGY. Recipe for an epic wipe out in my over exaggerated mind.

Then, I got out the garmin and headed out for a HIIT run through the neighborhoods. For one reason or another, I decided that wouldn’t work either, and turned around and headed home. Clearly frustrated by my indecisiveness, I decided I was doing the elliptical. No turning back, dammit!

Good and sweaty, I made a …brown? juice.

Although I find myself “busy,” I have noticed I have time for the little things, like taking Niko on an extra walk or making fresh squeezed juices. This had kale, carrots, and apples. Pretty tasty despite the sewage water look it’s got goin’ on.

Other eats before I trained a few clients:

Also before I left to train, I popped a little somethin’ somethin’ in the oven for a couple hours set on a low setting of 300º

She makes it with a slow cooker, but I got a little angry with mine a few weeks back and chucked it. Just like that.

So a casserole pot did the job wonderfully and was ready for my hungry belly when I got home for the night! 😀

This morning, I woke up bright and early for a few morning clients. I had an hour break between two of them, so I planned on getting in a run then.

Pre-training breakfast/snack:

That, my friends, is a TJ’s flattened banana with some TJ’s raw almond butter. I rolled that bad boy up and ate it pinwheel style. I think I’ve found my new favorite snack…YUM!!

After training and working out, I headed to the grocery store, then Starbucks for a grande-soy-half-pump-vanilla-latte-please, ran a couple other errands, and then got my oil changed.

I was pretty hungry again around this time, and when my friend, Missy, asked me out to lunch, I happily obliged!

Mmmm. Was expensive, but delicious!

Got any plans for the night? After I get some Quickbooks business done and vacuum, my parents are coming over for the afternoon! I think we’re gonna shop it up a bit:)

Do you ever get exercise ADD and switch up what you’re going to do last minute? I hate the feeling of being indecisive. Hate it, hate it, hate it. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t still happen from time to time!

His, Hers, and Ours

Heyyy lovlies!

Here we are again – the ominous Sunday night post! Only because it means that it’s back to work tomorrow!

I’ll try to get this post out with as little typos as possible. You see, my cat, Clarabelle, has been INCREDIBLY LOVEY lately. She wont. leave. me. alone. She’s been following me around, sleeping right next to my head, and meowing at me constantly. She’s adorable, and I love her, but c’mon, Clare. And the worst thing she’s been doing is walking across the keyboard when I try to post, hence the forecast of typos. Either way, I’m glad she’s not depressed any more, but geesh! But I digress…

 

I woke up this morning super early for a Sunday – around 7:00, and wasn’t quite ready for breakfast, but was definitely ready for coffee.

While sipping on some joe, I munched on an apple and read some more of The Kind Diet.

I’m really liking this book. Alicia tells her story in a way that really allows her to connect with her audience. She’s so passionate about animals, and it’s very inspiring to me.

After getting in a quickie workout, it was time to make some his and hers breakfast.

1 c. water, 1/2 c. oats, 1 T agave, 1 T flax, 1/4 c. bloobs, 1 T almond butter

As I mentioned last night, the husband and I had plans of going to a new church (new to us, anyway) this morning. Unfortunately, Shane had some pop up deadlines to meet with his business (he has a game server business with a couple other business partners aside from his full time job,) so we didn’t get to attend. Next week, we’ll go.

However, this meant more time to get stuff done around the house. I cleaned the bathrooms, and then felt that warranted a reward of watching an hour’s worth of Jersey Shore, while sipping on some fresh pulverized juice:

Somehow the rest of the morning went by rather quickly. Not sure what I did or got accomplished during that time. Piddling around the house makes the time go so fast!

Around 1:00, we had another His and Hers meal.

I was SO obsessed with the sweet potato fries I made yesterday, that I just had to use up the other one I had today!

With it I had a Sunshine veggie burger topped with tomato, ketchup, and sliced avocado.

Shane wanted a burger, so I threw one on the grill along with the same toppings as my veggie burger and used toast as the buns, because I don’t typically buy hamburger buns.

And we ate our his and hers meal together.

So simple, yet so delish.

If you’ve noticed, I haven’t really been cooking much out of cookbooks lately, or making time and labor intense meals lately. Dunno why. Just haven’t felt like it for some reason lately. I’ll get back to it soon, I hope 😀

Over lunch, we were talking about what our plans were for the rest of the day. After being indecisive for a bit (it’s how we roll) we landed on going to see a movie!

I had to distinguish between the two, because the husband thinks he hates nutritional yeast (when in reality, he just doesn’t think that anything that’s called nutritional yeast can be tasty :p) and mine, clearly, had some nutr. yeast on it (aaand dark chocolate chips…yummay)

The movie was very good. Not what either of us expected, but it really made you think, and was very enjoyable. Plus, it’s got Clooney in it. I mean, come on! 😀

It’s still freaking frigid here in Illinois, and we were both ice blocks when we got out of the theatre! It’s supposed to get up to the 20’s on Tuesday, and I can’t wait! I may even be able to *gasp* run outside!!

Though the good news is it was still light out at 5:00! Three cheers for the days getting longer!!

After getting back home and playing Super Mario Brothers and finally beating the Sand World, I got started on dinner.

In the house salad – romaine, spinach, yellow bell pepper, tomato, broc, zuke, and chopped roasted eggplant. SO good it about knocked my head off!

Haven’t yet eaten dessert, and doubt I’ll need to with this monster of a meal!!

I know what I do need though…a little Kardashian Sisterhood in my life 🙂 Gotta love trashy Sunday night TV! Who am I kidding? I could make every night a trashy TV night.

 

Do you take your own snacks/drinks into the movie theatre? Obviously, I’m a little rebel, and do so myself. I figure that the movie theatre really doesn’t provide any healthy options, and I wasn’t in the mood for movie popcorn and wanted something healthy instead.

Personal Record and a New Recipe!

Hi there! I hope everyone is having a nice evening. I, for one, am glad today is coming to a close. Was your Monday as crappy is mine? Ok, enough about the negative. Luckily it’s winding down, and tonight has been fab 😀

I was SO not feeling my run after I got off work. I was stalling big time. Instead of heading straight to the gym, I went home, piddled around, and took Niko on a walk. Fortunately, I had slipped out to Target during my lunch hour to score some new workout clothes.


They really helped the motivation factor. I told myself all I had to do was try them on, and when I did, I was ready for a work out!

I headed out the door to the gym at about 6:00. An ofcourse, all the good treadmills were taken. Don’t you hate that?! So I had to wait about 10 minutes until I could scavenge one- ha! I really felt like a treadmill predator. Rawr.

When I started running, it felt awesome! Before I knew it, I had run 5K already, and had beat my own record. I ran 5K in 27 minutes!! This is great for me. But I kept going, saying I just had to make it to four miles. When I made it to four, I told myself, meh, what’s just one more mile. So I did it. I ran 5 miles! This is also a personal record in distance for me. After I cooled down, I stretched, and left the gym feeling like the queen of the world! Are you competitive with yourself, too? I’m always trying to beat my own records, hehe.

Continuing with my indecisiveness that seems to be the trend today, I was all set for ordering sushi and picking it up on my way home, but I again changed my mind.

Even though it was getting late, I wanted to grill up the egg plant that I bought at the farmer’s market on Saturday. I had hubski slice it up while I showered, and then I seasoned it up with a little EVOO, salt & pepper, and a mix of seasonings we call the “pizza seasonings.” After frying it on the stove, I topped them with freshly grated mozzerella, then some marinara, and on top of that, some parmesan. YUM-FRIGGIN-TOPIA.

For a side, I made sweet potato fries. Mmmm. I sliced these bad boys up and tossed them in EVOO, s&p, and cumin. Then popped them in the hot box at 450 degrees for 40 minutes.

I was so going to make some watermelon salsa tonight, but after I cut up the watermelon, I realized I didn’t have any chile’s. Damn! Am I the only one who that happens to a lot? I’ll start making something, only to realize I don’t have (at least) one of the ingredients.

Oh well, this is where improvisation comes in! Right?! I figured I already chopped up some watermelon, why not add some other friends to make it a fruit salad! So into the pool went blueberries, a pear, and a kiwi. It was a delicious combination. And, it was dessert!

The fruit salad was HUGE, though, and we couldn’t finish it. Oh you know it won’t go to waste.


That’s right. I popped that sucker in the fridge, because tomorrow it’s joining the Green Monster club. Oh yeah. 😛

Day time eats weren’t nearly as fun as night time eats. However, I did get a little creative with my sandwich for lunch today! On some ezekial, I had turkey, tomatoes, home made guac, and some brie. It was a tasty combination.

Oh, and this was honestly the high light of my work day. (Excluding Target of course!!)

In other news, I tried a new Lara Bar today. Let’s just say Peanut Butter cookie gives Lemon a run for its money. Ok, who am I kidding? Peanut Butter Cookie kicks the other bar’s lemony butt!
