An Up and Down Monday

Today’s been a long day already! On a positive note, I’m so proud of myself because last night I went to bed early, around 9:15, and woke up early, around 4:30, and worked out! I got in an hour-long sweat session before the sun even came up! I did:

– 40 minutes of intervals on the elliptical

– 3×12 biceps with 10 lb weights

– 3×12 rows with 10 lb weights

It felt awesome! I was drenched in sweat, just like I like it a the end of the workout. Plus, it was nice knowing I won’t have to work out when I got home from work tonight.

Since I only work a half day on Fridays, I have to make up the hours Monday-Thursday. So those days I’m at work from 7-4:30. Makes for long days, but it’s so worth it at 11:00 a.m. on Fridays!

Then, I was just getting ready to leave for work, and I heard a gurgling noise from little Niko. She was getting sick! She stayed at my parents’ house this weekend, and must have gotten into something. My heart just breaks when she gets sick, because she’s so small and just looks so pitiful. Being the good Niko mom I am, I called my work and let them know I’d be late. I stayed with her to see if she’d stop or if I’d need to take yet another trip to the vet. Luckily, after about an hour, she stopped and perked up a little bit. I’m still worried, though. Hopefully she’ll get enough water throughout the day to stay hydrated. The funny thing is, I told my mom yesterday that I wanted another dog. I think this is God’s way of saying, “oh no you don’t, Paige!” haha -Perhaps the hubby will go home on his lunch break to check on her.

At least I was able to do some dishes and laundry while I was waiting for her to feel better. However, luckily I was able to get my workout in already, because tonight that’s going to be replaced with mopping the floors…ick.

Speaking of workouts, I created a new workout schedule since I completed my 5K race. Now, I’ll be training for my 10K race in September, and then another one in October. For September, my goal will be to finish, while for October, my goal will be to finish with my best time. I’m putting the final touches on them, so hopefully I’ll be able to post it when I get home from work today.

And I almost forgot, it’s Monday, which means it’s Good Mood Monday! On this Monday, I’m thankful for:

-getting my workout in and not skimping on sleep at the same time

-my puppy getting (somewhat) better after being sick

-Bob and Tom radio on the way to work (hey, it got some laughs out of me)

-my new blender

-my parents’ being able to watch Niko while we were gone

-being able to use Panera’s free wifi to blog from!

What are you thankful for so far on this Monday?

Hodge Podge Sundays

How is it Monday again?! I swear the weekend started just a couple minutes ago…

Anyway, yesterday was kind of a random/hodge-podge of a day. I eventually got out of my funk, thanks to some readers’ kind comments, and from a little endorphin-boosting QT with my beloved elliptical.

Yes, even though I was feeling slightly crappy, I managed to get in about 30 minutes on the elliptical. I also did legs, so I’m sure I’ll feel that tomorrow.

The weather here was SO beautiful yesterday, I just had to get out of the house. So I took the Nik-Nack for about a 20 minute walk. Both she and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Action shot:

After getting in a little exercise, I was feeling a little hungry again. (It took a while though after that HUGE omelet!)

So I made myself a …purple? Monster.

No spinach went in this time, but lots of other goodness did.

It was fab!
So yeah, that was lunch. Throughout the whole day I did some mini tasks, like the dishes, laundry, etc. I also cut up the most juicy pineapple!

Pineapple’s such a pain to cut up, but so worth it when you get to the good stuff!!

I’m not sure what else made the time go by so fast, but all the sudden, it was 7:30, and I was hungry. I didn’t feel like cooking anything, and I knew Shane wasn’t going to, so I decided to have breakfast for dinner. First I made a little oatmeal in a PB container:

Oh yes, I did. Then I re-heated some of Saturday’s oat pancakes.

As you can see, food/meals was just kind of random yesterday.

The rest of the night was spent in front of the tube, just vegging out. I needed a good veg out session! 🙂

I kind of slept like crap last night. Got to bed on time, but just tossed and turned. So I thought a Green Monster would help give me a boost this morning.

Back to the green 😀 This one is almost a toxic color green LOL. It was a very pineappley green monster and tasted great.

Well I’ve only got a few minutes before leaving for work, so I need to pack up and head out! Back to the grind!

Coffee makes anything possible

Ok, maybe that’s an overstatement, but it sure makes it seem that way at 5:00 a.m., you know? I love blogging with a cup of joe at my side. Watch out, coffee, you’re not gonna last long 😉

I get off work at 4:30 Monday-Thursday, and 4:30 a.m. sure does come a heck of a lot quicker than 4:30 p.m! haha

I really do like getting up early though. I’m a morning person, and would rather go to bed a little early and wake up before the sun. I love watching the sun come up; it’s so refreshing.

Last night after dinner, I made hubski and my lunch’s for today. I knew I’d be running short on time this morning before work (I mean, when am I not?? :-p)
I made him a regular almond butter and preserves – his fave, and made myself a peanut butter and co. w/ banana sandwich. I’ll have an apple on the side.
This is one of my faves. I also threw in some string cheese, an oikos honey yogurt, some Kashi cereal for breakfast, and some blueberries.

This morning’s workout is going to be 35-40 minutes (depending on when I can pry myself off the computer) on the elliptical. We have one at home, so it’s very easy and convenient for me to hop on in the morning before I leave for work. It’s a Sole, and I really like it. It was my Christmas present this past Christmas.

I usually watch Days of Our Lives or an equally mind-numbing show while working out. Wonder what Sami will be up to this morning…pregnant again? :-p
I think I’ll be pretty busy at work today. I have several meeting and several reports I need to get out by today.
Before I start my workout, I need to give a shout out to my girl, Becky. Her birthday is today! Happy Birthday, Bek!
