Hey there everyone! Hope your Sunday is going just how you want to be! Is it snowing where you are? I know some places got inches upon inches of snow! Unexpected places, even, like Virginia and Carolina’s, right? Well, inevitably, here in central Illinois, we also got some, too, but surprisingly, only a couple inches.
Niko’s not a big fan of the snow and hates when I have her go outside to potty. She walks the perimeter of the yard, where there’s the least amount of snow.
So one week from today, I was just getting back from my cruise. Now, I’ve already said that while I did practice some healthy habits, like working out and getting some veggies in, moderation wasn’t very prevalent in my vocabulary during the cruise, and indulgence was. However, the day I got back from the cruise, I decided to put my body in uber-healthy mode. Not only did I want to be in tip top condition for the ACE personal training exam I had last Thursday, but I also wanted to jump start my body to start getting rid of the toxins and wastes I’d accumulated during the cruise. I’m not talking about only eating fruits/veggies/juice or anything crazy like that, but just implementing a few basic habits to purify my body and get my healthy habits back.
I basically kept three things in mind the whole week.
The first one was to start each day out with an abundance of raw, leafy greens…in form of a Green Monster, of course!
Since this was breakfast, and I needed it to tie me over until lunch, most of them were with chocolate Amazing Meal, and this bad boy:
Secondly, I tried to eat a couple high raw meals per day – the Green Monster obviously being one of them. But to add to it, I often had big, colorful salads for lunch:
and pretty much just added veggies in wherever possible, whenever possible.

I also drank a butt load of delicious, detoxifying liquids.
This stuff is amazing for you. It’s super purifying, and once you get past the acquired taste, it’s actually very delicious!
I also tried to get in as much exercise and stretching as I could. A nice good sweat does SO much for the body. OK, so I guess that’s four main tactics I followed, but this one I really struggled at. Last week, the majority of my time was spent studying, so my workouts tended to be intense and not very long when I got one in.
And that actually reminds me of one more…I didn’t feel like I had to eat/drink/workout perfectly! Just because you over-indulged one week, doesn’t mean you need to set yourself up for disappointment by setting rigid, impossible standards for yourself the next week. Do what you can, but don’t forget you don’t need to be perfect. Have fun!
Do you guys do anything differently regarding eating or workouts after a long vacation? I could see how easing back into it would be beneficial to some, or to even just not do anything different at all!
