Weekend Winery Trip

Hey hey hey! It’s Sunday night once again. Oh Sunday night, how bittersweet you are. I hope everyone’s weekends turned out wonderfully. Mine was a blast!

Last night, the hubski and I joined another couple out at Mackinaw Valley Winery for some good wine, good tunes, and good company.

The winery is gorgeous, with fields upon fields of vines, a lake, and a biiiig house to buy and sample wine in.

Every Saturday night in the summer, the winery has a band come out and play, and people just set up chairs and tables on the grassy area. We had been wanting to do this all summer, so I’m so glad we finally got a chance to before it got too cold.

The band was really good! Played lots of well-known songs, and lots of Jimmy Buffet, which = a damn good time in my opinion!

To start off, Shane and I each got a glass of two different types of wine – I got a red:

and Shane, a white:

Cheers, baby!

The night was SO much fun! The couple we met out there brought cheese, chocolate covered strawberries, crackers and more. We even got to see Martha, the cat that has free reign over the winery:

We all had a blast, though I ended up consuming a bottle too much of wine. I have to say, I wasn’t feeling in top shape this morning. In fact, I woke up around 5:00 this morning, and literally chugged a half gallon of water in hopes that I’d wake up a few hours later feeling much better. I guess that’s the cure, because I woke up again at 8 feeling 10 x’s better. However, there was still some residual hungoverness (technical term) lingering, so in an effort to feel even better, I made a gloriously detoxifying Green Monster:

Mmm. It contained 1 frozen banana, a handful of spinach, some Amazing Meal, one carrot, ice, and almond milk. After this bad boy, I was feeling almost “good” and I was definitely feeling OK enough to clean the house. I tackled the kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms all before 2:00.

The rest of the day was spent tooling around with my mom – and it just completely slipped my mind to take pictures of the days encounters for some reason. But, we just went to Fresh Market and then Von Maur. Von Maur is our all time favorite store. I’ve shopped there since I was in the womb. I even worked there after college since I couldn’t find a job in my field for a while. I ended up getting some Joe’s Jeans (my faaavorite,) a cute white blouse, and some under garments 🙂 I looove them all. I haven’t been shopping in forever since we’re saving for our cruise, so it was nice to get some unnecessary items.

Before I say good bye, I have to share with you a new move Niko has been doing lately. Actually, I should start calling her Koala, because she has been picking up some koala-like tendencies:

Whenever I go to pick her up, she hugs and clings to my arm on the way up. It. is. so. cute. I can’t even take it. Ok, that’s it – thanks for letting me gush 😉

I hope you all had a lovely weekend and have an even lovelier week!
