My First Zumba Experience!

Hi guys! Wow what a jam packed Friday! And it as even my half day today at work! It was jam-packed with fun-ness though:D
After work I decided Niko needed a little spiffing up, so I took her to the groomers. Poor little girl was shaking like a leaf 😦 No matter which groomer I bring her to, it seems like they never treat her well enough. Then again, no one’s good enough for my little Nikster 😉 I came to get her a little early and they were just finishing up.

The finished product:

AWWWWWW. Daddy was sure to have the bows out in no time 😉 He wants Niko to be a tom-boy, haha.

While she was getting prettified, I was out spending teh moneyz. First I just had to go to the Naturally Yours health food store to use my newly realized employee discount. But that only took up about 30 minutes. So I headed into Borders and looked at a couple cook books:

I have an obsession with Alton, and I really want this book in the future. I like him so much I left an Operation Beautiful note in it, and then left it out on a table in hopes that someone would open it up and see it today:

Then…I did it! I bought the cook book I’ve been wanting for-ev-er!

I was going to wait, and get it on Amazon for cheaper than $28, but I managed to sweet talk the cashier into giving me a 30% discount 😉 Score!! I think it was my karma payback from leaving an OB note, heheh
Naturally, I went next door to Fresh Market to pick up ingredients for two meals I want to make from the book this weekend. And I did what I said I wouldn’t do yesterday:

I bought over-priced produce from FM. But it was all organic!! I also found another unicorn!

I had actually gotten in line, having given up on finding them, and then I spotted them in the lady ahead of me in line’s cart. Obviously, I said, “Where did you find those Flat Out wraps?!” She then pointed me in the right direction, and I got out of line to grab them up. Can’t wait to try ’em!

I love that all their meat is all-natural or organic. Buying sketchie meat makes me nervous.
After a short nap, it was time to ZUMBA it up!!! I met my friend at the gym and there were SO many people that attended. The energy was awesome, and the cause was even better. They had raised so much money for Ovarian Cancer before I left – and there was still an hour to go then!
I zumba’d for about an hour before I had to go. Honestly, I wasn’t prepared for it to be such a work out! I wore my Polar F6 HRM just because I was curious, and let me tell you, zumba burns some serious calories when you get into it! I think it said I had burned about 390 in 45 minutes? I’m not quite sure..but it was up there. They had all of their instructors take turns, too, so it was neat seeing all of their personalities. I really liked the ones who got into the most and looked like they were having a blast. It pumped me up!
Pre Zuma fuel:

Then it was off to BUNCO, where I brought the aforementioned birthday cookies. No, unfortunately I can’t say I made them (I wish I did!!) I bought them from a local bakery that is famous in this town for its sweets – Grove Street Bakery.
Bunco was a ball as usual. The group of girls I play with are simply great. And good news!! I won money!! Ten dollas, baby! I haven’t won yet in 2009, so maybe it’ll be a winning streak 😉 It’s $5 to play, so I won $5 for the most “baby buncos.” If you have never played bunco, you should seriously get a group together to play! Has anyone never heard of it?

And after ALL of that stuff, this post also serves as a Race Eve post. Yep, tomorrow morning I’m running a 5K! And it’s in a city 45 minutes way at 8:00 a.m. I forsee a nap in my future tomorrow. Ok…must go to bed. Good night, all 😀

Do you have a scheduled “girls night” every month/week? What do you get together and do?

A Day Ahead

Hey hey everyone! How was your first Tuesday back? Yesterday was Tuesday? I keep thinking it was Monday!! Todays’s Wednesday? What? Needless to say, my Tuesday was suuuper busy. Apparently about ½ the people I work with don’t quite know the concept of work/life balance, and sent me a many emails on Labor Day 😉 So I was busy playing catch up yesterday. Plus, it’s the busy time of year for us planners, which = busy Paige.

My lunch meeting got canceled because I was so behind, so I did manage to sneak out to Barnes and Nobles for a little sanity check. I looked at cookbooks, and found one that I’m going to get on Amazon this week:

Love her Operation Beautiful note in it:

Yayy! So true 😉

When I got back to work, I was ravenous. I had some of the usual oatmeal and a supercharge me cookie in the morning, alas, the beast wanted MOAR.

I intended to have some soup:

Mmm. However, I realized I had no can opener, and my friend who has one was out of the office today. So lunch was an impromptu mess of plain Oikos and Great Harvest Granola:

I put a big ol’ scoop in there:

And then even more after I took a couple bites. Muhaha.

Then it was more work, work, work, and around 3 I stopped for an (unpictured) Apple Pie Lara Bar.

Niko had to get some shots today, so I left work about 45 minutes early to take her in. She was pretty scared, and wanted her mama the WHOLE time. Poor little girl. But she did SO well with her shots – not even a yelp 🙂

She’ll be your BFF4L if you give her a belly rub.

Then it was time to relax at the homefront. Or so I thought…I put a big load of sheets in the washer, and then ventured downstairs, only to hear “rain.” Yeah..not rain. Our washer had a leak!! Luckily, my handy-man of a husband was able to fix it (crosses fingers!!!) Then it was relax time.

Carribean pizza by Kashi with plantains, kale, pepper, and tomato.

Zucchini pasta with tomato peanut sauce.

With some VINO!

I made the Zucchini pasta because I made some of Brandi’s Zucchini Banana Chocolate Chips Muffins!!! It’s my friend at work’s birthday, so we’re having a “food day” for her today, and my contribution is Brandi’s muffins.

They were goooood! Yes, I sampled. What of it ? 🙂

All packed up and ready to go!

What’s your current “home project/problem” right now?

Ours is obviously the washer. Our dryer also sqeaks and creaks and doesn’t dry very good. I’m working on the hubski to get a new one. “After our cruise,” he says.

Cooler Season, Warmer Hair

Right after work, I got my hair did at Station 710 Salon! For the cut, I told my stylist to put more layers in and thin it out. I have TONS of hair. And while it’s not necessarily thick, there’s just a shit ton of it on my head. For the color, I had her warm it up. She took out the cool blond, and left the strawberry blond (my natural hair color) and then added some warm low lights. I love, love, love it! Whadya think??

In other exciting news, look what came in the mail for me yesterday!

Caitlin’s Operation Beautiful necklace!
It’s just so cute and all the proceeds go to such a good cause. I was so proud wearing it today:

I was also proud when someone commented on it, and I could tell them the OB story, and about Dress for Success.

After my hair appointment, I made a quick, impulsive stop at Great Harvest Bread Company. They are SO willing to give out as many (generous-sized) portions as you want. A little too willing. I was hungry when I got there, but not so much when I left.

The goods:

Apple Pie Bread. No, you didn’t hear me wrong, friends, Apple. Pie. Bread!

Ahhh it’s so good.

Dakota bread. This stuff rocks. It has pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, hemp seeds, millet, and a couple of other seeds in it. So hearty. So delicious.

And this little guy decided to hop into my bag right before I was paying somehow. One of the bakers told me how delicious it was. Little did she know, it wouldn’t take me much convincing.

I’m not too sure what is on the agenda for tonight. I was going to go to a happy hour, but it looks like the hour hath passed and I missed out. I always seem to want to go out after I get my hair done. I mean, when else does my hair get a blow out? I rarely do it myself.

So, as I sit here blogging, I’m having my own happy hour:

That’s my “See? I can have my own happy hour!!!” face! haha

What are your plans on this lovely Friday night?

Before I go, I jumped on the Breakfast Cookie Week bandwagon, and made one of my own this morning. Well, actually I made it last night, and ate it this morning.

Ahhh yum!!! It had 1/3 cup of oats, 1/2 smashed banana, a smidgen of almond milk, dark chocolate almond butter, flax meal, and on top some more flax and sliced almonds. It was SO good, and kept we very, very full. Love the breakfast cookies 🙂
