Don’t worry, I’m parked. In a parking lot;) Got a few spare minutes in between stops, and blogging is cheaper than shopping 😉

It’s been a busy past 24 hours!! Yesterday during the day, time was spent training clients and cleaning the house, in usual Friday fashion.

 

In between training, I took a quick break for some lunch while watching Glee!

After training my last client, it was time to get ready for Bunco! I hadn’t been to bunco the past two months, so I was pretty pumped up 🙂 This month, my friend Theresa was hosting, and I knew there wouldn’t be much veggie fare, so I had a snack before leaving:

I love Oikos and all, but Fage is where it’s at, guys. Actually, Fage Total is where it’s at, but 2% is good too. The fat free version is just…no, though.

With some currants, flaxmeal, pumpkin, and vanilla stevia – it was a very tasty bowl!

When we finished the rounds (I tied for biggest loser – ha!) a few of us made a last minute decision to hit up a local gay bar down town, Bistro. They were hosting a drag show – and I’d never been to one.

However, waking up this morning I second guessed my decision. I had signed up for a spin class this morning, and felt the three and a half drinks I had last night coursing through my veins.

Spin ended up being a great class, too! And I felt 100% better afterward. However, I had to be in Peoria by 10 this morning, and in Paige-fashion, I overestimated the amount of time I had to get ready.

After a quick shower and makeup (no time for hair!!) I booked it over to Peoria to meet my besties for some bridal fun:

For now, I’ve got to run to meet Shane and his grandma for a birthday lunch, then meet back up for the girls for some more fun. Not sure what the night will entail. I have a shower that I have to help with tomorrow, so it probably won’t be too late of a night.

And Now Peanut Butter Disgusts Me

Morning! Happy Thursday 😀 Can’t believe how fast the week has flown buy. I know I always say that, but I guess it’s always supah fast when things get busy. ahem.

Last night after training I client, I decided to try out running a four mile run. If my body wasn’t up to it, I’d stop. I’ve been going light on exercise this week just to give my body a bit of a break. However, I got through the four miles and called it done. I was at about a 9:15 pace – so an easy pace for my training, and it was just the heart pumping cardio I needed.

Once I left, it was already getting a bit late for dinner. So I flew in the door, begun slamming around pots, pans, knives, and ingredients and wound up with this:

This would be (never)homemaker’s peanut sauce over some brown rice and grilled, chopped portabello mushrooms:

it was ok. The sauce was just a little too much. Too … sweet? salty? flavory? I’m not sure what was off about it.

These dishes were good, but not good all together, ya know?

Since tomorrow at the BIC we are celebrating November birthdays for the month, it’s encouraged that everyone bring in a dish to help the celebration.

So, i finally made Mama Pea’s dough balls.

Then it happened.

It came on all the sudden, like a bad cold.

I think I OD’d on peanut butter.

Even now, the thought of it repulses me. I know, I know. Blasphemy! What will this morning’s breakfast consist of?! I sure don’t know!!

What’s your favorite breakfast that doesn’t contain any nut butter?

It’s going to be a busy one at the BIC today. Deadlines! Deadlines! However, tonight is Power Yoga and then dinner with the girls! 😀

Shy Away From the High Way

Hi friends! How’s your Thursday going? Not too shabby here. A little late in posting here, but I ran out of time earlier.

This morning before heading into work, I got my yoga on! Thursday mornings are generally reserved for my long short run. It’s usually between 5 and 6 miles in duration, which is a little longer than my typical 3-4 mile mid-week runs.

Today, however, started out with some yoga. Since I’m planning on doing my long run tomorrow due to the race on Sunday, I figured it’d be the perfect morning to take it easy and get in some hip opening stretches. It was quite nice!

Now I’m about to head to the gym to train a couple clients. Since I had some time to stop by home, though, I did some serious dinner prep:

Veggies galore! Chopped and coated in EVOO and S&P before leaving so all I have to do when I get home is stick ‘em in the oven. Two points for saving time 😉

Sidenote: whenever Niko hears me peeling anything, she darts over to me in hopes that I’m peeling a sweet potato that she can snag:

So tomorrow I’ll be leaving for Cheee-caaa-gooo! I’ll be staying with my girl Destiny for the Frank Lloyd Wright 10K on Sunday. I’ve been to Chicago more times than I can count this year alone, but this will be the first time I’m driving up by myself – ever. I’ve always either ridden along as a passenger or taken the train up because I am horrible at driving in high traffic. The nerves get to me! The one time that I did drive up myself I had my mom in the passenger seat, and she might be the only other person who’s worse than I am at driving through traffic-y areas (sorry mom.) Oh and, um, not to mention I almost got us killed. Ha…

Needless to say, the husband is a little worried for me. I plan to drive the speed limit, give myself PLENTY of time to be in the correct lane for exits, and place my phone in the back seat. Oh, and to give myself ample time to make a Lululemon stop along the way 😉 I know it sounds like I’m being a baby, but that’s just because I am one 😉 I really just don’t like driving at all anywhere, and try to get out of it when I can. Ask my friends! When it’s my “turn” to drive somewhere, I’ve been known to provide my car, but have them drive, haha. Wish me luck!

As far as packing goes, here’s what’s on my list. It’s always a bit more comprehensive when there’s a race involved.

Are you a good driver in high traffic areas? As much as I declare that I’m really a city girl, I don’t think I could handle the traffic. I definitely wouldn’t own a car if I lived in Chicago or another big city.

Creative Fuel’s A-Burnin’

Mornin’! How ya feelin’ today?

At the moment, II feel…rushed? I didn’t wake up in time to get my planned 3.5 mile run in, so instead I did a quick n’ speedy 2.5 miler. I managed my time well, too:

Mile 1: (first .5 was warm up at 9:40) 9:33

Mile 2:8:28 (alternating sprints for .2 and recovery jogs for .1)

Mile 2-2.5: 7:51 😀

The weather has cooled off a bit since this weekend, which made for phenomenal running weather!

Yesterday, productivity was the name of the game. After all the weekend festivities, I had a lot of catching up to do.

My day started a bit later than typical Mondays do for me. I got to wake up an hour later than usual because I didn’t have a client this morning and I welcomed the extra sleep. Although I didn’t eat several hours before bed last night, it took a good hour for me to work up an appetite for breakfast. So I walked Niko, did some laundry, and worked on the blog. Finally, hunger set it.

whole wheat protein waffles. Switched up the topping a bit by using vanilla stevia instead of maple syrup (because we were out) and I added a half of a banana in there for good measure.

I was so full after eating this. It’s better as a post-run breakfast, since I always come back from a hard run famished. But I’ll take it;)

With fuel in belly, I went upstairs to the office to work, work, work away. My creative fire was a-burnin’ when I woke up, so I took full advantage by working on a project I’m involved in with my client-turned-business partner. It’s one that cannot get pushed to the back burner, so it’s imperative to seize the motivation to work whenever it appears. This is an example of when my to-do list gets thrown out the window. When I feel the need to write, cleaning, creating plans, and grocery shopping can get pushed to the bottom of the list.

I worked up until I headed to the gym to get back/chest workout in, and then hopped on the elliptical for about 20 minutes. I wanted to take it easy on my legs, since Sunday I both ran a tempo run and had a leg strength training sesh. The stems were a wee bit sore yesterday. After training, I had to hit up Target, the post office (Lara Bars are on there way, winners!) and a grocery store.

Purchased this lil’ gem for some quick fuel:

Now, if you’ve been a reader for a while, you know I’m not a calorie counter, but I was very surprised to see that there were 260 calories in this little bottle!! And all it is is fruit juice…craziness I tell ya.

Once home and showered, I made a real lunch:

My favorite part of working part time at the BIC? I get to make real lunches some days during the week!

Tofu marinated in tamari, vanilla stevia, EVOO, sea salt, and apple cider vinegar:

Both were roasted on the same pan at 425º, for 30 minutes, flipped half way through.

Then it was time to make the house sparkle. Even though I just scrubbed the floors last week, I had to again yesterday. Typically, I only get down on my hands and knees to scrub the floors once a month, and then once or twice a week, I’ll hit them with the Swiffer wet jet. Well, yesterday while shopping for Swiffer pad refills, I refused to buy them at nearly a dollar per pad. The Swiffer boy cot sounded like a good idea yesterday… haha Even so, nothing’s better than a good scrubbing I suppose.

After some more paper work, PT work, and taxes stuff, it was time to start dinner!

Do you make a “to-do” list? How do you organize it? I typically write it out in the order I want to get the tasks done…that way I won’t worry that I won’t have enough time to complete them and it makes it more realistic in terms of including too many tasks. But like I said, sometimes ya gotta go with how ya feel!

Two More Days

Hi there! Two more days left at my full time job. Holy crap, that’s as crazy as it sounds 😀

Knowing that makes today just a smidge easier. You see, yesterday ended with a 9:00 p.m. sand volleyball game on the other side of town. Did I mention it’s currently 5:30 a.m. and I have a 6:00 a.m. client before work? Two more days. Two more days.

But let’s rewind back to what yesterday started with.

After a 45 minute Insanity workout with the husband, breakfast was NEEDED.

A breakfast cookie! I haven’t had one of these babies in a while. This one in particular had oats, 1/2 a banana, 1 T. peanut butter, 1/8 c. almond milk, maca, Jay Robb protein powder, cocao nibs, and cranberries.

Washed it down with a no fuss smoothie involving half a frozen banana, frozen blueberries, water, spinach, and a 1/2 t. xantham gum. It was the perfect breakfast to fuel a hard work out. Note: Insanity makes you SWEAT. On my side of the floor, it looked like a rain cloud passed through. Shane’s side looked more like a monsoon, but that’s neither here nor there 😉

Then I was off to work for a few hours. My trainee is pretty much trained. I don’t think my managers will miss my mad planning skillz with him around 😉 Not sure what we’ll do these LAST TWO DAYS (!!) but I’m sure it’ll be all good.

For lunch, Shane and I went to Chipotle, and I ordered the veggie burrito bol:

Around 3, I had an unpictured snack of plain greek yogurt + homemade granola. And then around 5, I trained a client.

Once home, I walked Niko, cleaned up, and got started on dinner.

For the main course, I sauteed some Quorn chick’n strips + portabello mushroom slivers:

And topped a spinach and bell pepper salad with it.

I’m slowly but surely making my way through my NuNaturals stash. I really do love this Stevia. Would you guys want to do a giveaway on this stuff? There’s enough readers that like stevia on the blog for it, right?

While this meal was digesting, I caught up on Glee. ‘Twas a good one. Neil Patrick Harris is pretty awesome.

And then when I felt like I should get ready and go to bed, I left for my volleyball game.

Who schedules games at 9:00 at night?! Yeah…definitely going to need that second cuppa joe today, m’friends.

Neurotoxin Burgers and Fries

Monday, Monday…

Today was a ho-hum day of sorts. Luckily, I was still in good spirits, because every time I caught myself ho-humming, I immediately snapped myself out of it!

I woke up and had a bicep, back, hammies, and glutes strength session planned in the locale of the upstairs workout room.

After about 45 minutes worth of rows, rear delt flies, various bicep curls, dead lifts, hammie curls etc, I showered, dressed and prepared some grub.

And by preapred, I mean I scooped a cups worth of steel cut oats I made yesterday in bulk for this week and heated it up in the microwave. I topped it with peanut butter and coconut butter, naturally.

Strength training makes me hungry. At least today it did. My appetite was in 6th gear! I squashed it with an unpictured apple and mini luna bar before devouring leftovers for lunch!

Amazing. I admit that I had double what’s on that plate.

Work went by in kind of a haze. I felt like my brain was foggy for the better part of the afternoon. And my client I was supposed to train after work is still sick, but that’s OK, because I just wanted a glass of red wine. We were out of red wine, so muscato will do just fine:)

You can see I’m one of those types who immediately throws their hair back and puts on a T-shirt and sweats after work. Luckily the hubski doesn’t mind 🙂 Or so he says… What can I say? I’d rather be comfy! 

We threw around what we wanted to do for dinner during our hour of happy and not surprisingly decided to grill out. Well, Shane grilled out, and I grilled in…the oven.

Well I tried them with a mix of carrots and sweet potato, and omg they are out of this world delicious. I had to force myself to stop eating them or else I’d get sick. SO. GOOD.

I also tossed some Brussels sprouts in olive oil spray, salt, and pepper, and roasted them at 400º for about 10 minutes, flipping after five.

Side note about veggie burgers. Lara posted this article about the dangers of non organic veggie burgers, and I gotta admit, it had me cringing as I ate my non organic Boca burger tonight. Mmm neurotoxins…

After dinner I took Niko on her evening walk (she had a post-breakfast walk, too…trying to get her more exercise:)) and now I’m writing this post! It’s crazy…it’s only 7:30 and I have the whole night to relax! This never happens two days in a row! Weird…

How long does it take you to change into sweats/comfy clothes after getting home? Me? Like 5 minutes, tops 🙂

It’s Shooow(er) Time!

Having a fab Saturday? I sure can’t kick!

Let me tell you, that Power Yoga was a SUCCESS! The class description said to prepare to sweat, and sweat I did.

The class is actually a class in the loft area of my gym. It’s an ashtanga yoga class with lots of vinyasas. It was also the “launch class” today and had a few newbies, so I’m hoping the regular weekly classes are even more challenging.

After class I was talking to the instructor about how much I enjoyed the class, and how hard it has been actually trying to find a good, challenging yoga class here in Bloomington. She felt the exact same way, and that’s how she got the idea to start the class. I’m so excited to start attending this class regularly 😀

After yoga, I did about 35 more minutes of cardio, and then headed back to the homefront to get ready for a shower.

Once showered, I felt a little snacky from my work out.

The last blog I read was Miss Snackface’s, and naturally, I had to try making some cheetahs!

OK ya’ll…I’ve made sweet potato fries before, but none like these. Yumtopia!!! Perfect amount of crunchiness. If you haven’t tried making sweet potato fries with this recipe, I encourage you all to do so stat!

But that’s not all. On plate numero uno, the cheetahs, and on plate numero dos…

As I was finishing nomming, my ride to the shower came, and I grabbed my gift and headed out.

Twas such a cute baby shower! The decorations were adorable, and there weren’t too many cheesy games. Just a couple, and not the kind that make people feel awkward. My kinda shower.

Little self-tidbit: at my bridal shower, I didn’t have any games for the guests to play. Just mimosas 😉

Got home from the shower and started to actually clean the house. The original tentative game plan was to have another couple over for a night of Euchre, but that fell through, so the hubs and I decided to have a date night at one of our favorite restaurants in town, Biaggis!

I was feeling fun and had a martini while waiting for our table:

After being seated noshing on some bread and olive oil, our entrees came out.

For mine, I had the eggplant parmesan:

Gaahhh I can’t explain how delicious this was. Hands down best eggplant parm I’ve ever eaten.

Dessert, however, was in our future, so I had to force myself to only eat half – and there was a LOT of eggplant there!

Also had a glass of red, red, wine with the din:

Full, but not quite miserable yet, we ordered the white chocolate bread pudding to put us over the top:

OK…words cannot even explain how decadent and delicious this dessert is. I’ve never had anything like it before.

All right. That did the job. Now we were miserably full, and decided to linger a while longer, while digesting and chatting it up, and sipped some coffee to aid in digestion:

Now we’re all settled in for the night and playing a little Wii Mario World.

However, I’m beginning to think we should have gotten decaf coffee after our meal, because it’s about time for bed, but I’m ready to beat Mario World whether it takes all night! Back in the day, I’d do that all the time! Blasted sense of time…

Well folks, I’ve got a level two Sand World to beat. Hope you have a fabulous Sunday! The husband and I are trying out a new church tomorrow. We’ve yet to find one that just “feels right” here, and we’re really hoping this is the one. Wish us luck!

 

Do you like to play all the shower games at wedding and baby showers? I’m clearly not a fan. I’m a HUGE kid at heart, and usually love all games, but there’s just something about shower games that give me the groans.
