Insta-Plans

Happy Monday  long weekend to those who live in the US:)

Even though it’s a long weekend for most, I’m heading into the gym to work today. I have a couple clients, and I told the owner I’d watch the gym.

Saturday night Shane and I had plans of grilling out and heading to the dog park. Big night😉

This weekend was also the last weekend for home games for our town’s minor league baseball team. Just so happened that while working at the gym, I met one of the players from the opposing team to offered up two free box seat tickets for Shane and I! Instant (and cheap!) Saturday night plans!

Before heading to the game, it was grill time!

I’ll miss grilling out…

 IMG_9274

We’ve grilled out countless times this summer. At least once per week – that’s more than we ever have before!

 IMG_9273

Sourdough garlic bread, okra, veg burg w/ ‘cado + green tomato + pickle!

       IMG_9278

Okra beans. They’ll be the next new superfood, just you wait! haha

Around 7, we got out the bikes to ride to the game

Pump it up!

We grabbed a beer, and then our seats.

IMG_0365 IMG_0369

It was a pretty good game!

 IMG_0366

But we left early to get ice cream before it got too dark.

 IMG_0370

Unfortunately, September = too dark too early, so we didn’t beat the night sky which left us ffffrreeezing and not being able to see much on the way home.

    IMG_0371

But the fro yo was worth it! By the way, reason #42 why I want to move away from Illinois: instead of having fun places like “self serve frozen yogurt shops” we have ice cream shops where the cashiers give you the oogly eye if you ask for one flavor on top of another. Hence, the two cups above. When I asked if I could have a small bit of raspberry on top, she just shook her head slowly and said “no.” She was a joy.

LOL

I showed her!

Worth it;)

How much did you grill out this summer? See above:D

What’s your favorite thing to grill out? I loooove making veggie packs (as evidenced on the blog) with potatoes, carrots, and onions~ yum!

Have a happy Labor Day to my US readers!!!

Picture Perfect Sunday

What a weird beginning to my Monday. It’s 7:00 a.m., and I’m blogging while my husband’s getting ready for work. Shouldn’t I be getting ready for work with him?! It’s going to take a while to kick that feeling. (For those who haven’t read, I quit my full time job to pursue the fitness field and my last day was Friday.)

What a weekend! For a no-plans weekend, we sure did a lot! It’ll take a little too much of your precious time to give you the play-by-play, so here it is, in sum.

We were OUTSIDE!!!

IMG_6843

IMG_6849

It was HOT and SUNNY in Central Illinois, and I think my skin is a few shades darker. Throughout the weekend, we partook in numerous outdoor activities!

I trained clients, ran a few miles, did a little lifting, cooked out, played bags…

IMG_6842

And played Uno and drank beer, obviously.

All the while, fueling UP.

IMG_6851

Two farm fresh eggs over medium + one half Ezekiel muffin w/ a PB/Protein Powder/Banana mush on top.

Boca BBQ!

And yesterday afternoon, my friend who has lived in California the past two years, and Florida the two before that, is back in town!!

IMG_6893

My beautiful, Kori!

And her BF Cory:

IMG_6891

Together, Cori?

While they visited, we drank smoothies with a special ingredient of rum for an extra kick:

IMG_6886

1 . frozen peaches + strawberries, 1 c. almond milk, some (?) rum, xantham gum, frozen bananas.

Cory is an amazing photographer, so we headed downtown where he helped me learn some stuff about my (well, my dad’s…:)) 40D Cannon.

Then we stopped in a cute coffee shop called the Coffee Hound:

I think I’m obsessed with learning about this camera now. I wanna know it ALL! Aperture, ISO, shutter speed OH MY.

It was pretty hot and muggy outside, so when we got back, we were all pretty beat, and were pretty jealous of the pets who were inside with the air on 😉

IMG_6903

They headed home shortly after, and I got some cleaning done, and then relaxed with the husband and Jack Bauer.

Currently munching on a banana dog, and about to head out on a 6.5 miler:

It’s gonna be a hot one. It’s already mid seventies and muggggy.

The rest of the day will entail organizing the office, looking up courses to take for a specialization I’m thinking of, creating some training plans, and then training tonight.

Have a marvelous Monday, all!

What was the most relaxing thing about your weekend?! I went for an evening run with my friend Heidi on Saturday. That was pretty darn relaxing!

Guaca-no-le

Good morning!

How was your weekend? Do anything fun or exciting? Are you all on vacation this week, or are you working right up to mid-day Christmas Eve, like me? 😉

This weekend was a great one for me!

Friday was all about getting ready for a Girls’ Night In Secret Santa party I was going to with my bestest of my girlfriends. After work that morning, I had to hurry home to start making my food contribution for the party.

I went with cashew hummus a la Dreena Burton:

IMG_1257 IMG_1258

Dippers were chopped peppers and some Dr. Krackers:

IMG_1259

And for my dessert, I decided to make Averie’s raw, vegan chocolate chip cookie dough balls!

IMG_1260

Except to make it more festive, I turned them into raw, vegan snowballs by rolling half in unsweetened coconut, and half in powdered sugar.

IMG_1261 IMG_1262

They were such a hit, along with the hummus! Woo hoo!

Oh, and I forgot to mention, it was an ugly Christmas sweater party 😉

 IMG_1264

Cheers!

IMG_1266 IMG_1267

The night got a wee bit crazy, and there were lots of drinks out of Green cups with peppermint straws:

     IMG_1286 IMG_1290

Needless to say, I felt like poo on Saturday. But it was worth it. I ended up staying the night at my girl, Kim’s, and then came home in the morning, to rush home for a hair appointment, followed by a stressful day of fighting the crowds at Petco, Borders, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Von Maur.

Afterward, I realized it was almost 5:00, and the only thing I’d eaten all day was a green monster. Woops! I booked it across the street to Chipotle! I had a craving and only their guacamole could quiet the beast:

IMG_1297

However, I sadly discovered that they forgot my guac. What a tragedy!

IMG_1298

After having a mini-hormone-induced meltdown, I gobbled it down, and then finally got started on doing laundry in my brand new washer and dryer that my husband installed the night before.

IMG_1299 IMG_1300

Love, love, love it!!!! It washes and dries clothes SO fast, and doesn’t make loud, scary noises like our last one did!

I ended the night in my robe, and gave myself a facial (which I need to do MUCH more often) with the following favorites:

IMG_1308

The purple one is a hand scrub that is just SO decadent. This is the dessert right heah, yo.

Sunday I woke up, and met my friend Heidi at the gym for a kick butt cardio work out, where I did a 3 mile run on the treadmill, 10 minutes on the stair stepper, and then 10 more minutes back on the treadmill for some hill walking and a cool down. And I got my Self Magazine fix in 😉

Then it was all about the to do list! Random fact: I Read somewhere the other day that to-do lists should only have seven items at the most on it, or else, you’ll feel overwhelmed, and disappointed if you don’t accomplish everything on it.

My new thing is to cut and prep all the veggies I’m going to use for dinner for the next couple nights, so I did that:

IMG_1320 IMG_1324

Then made a delicious lunch of green beans, spinach salad, and a Dr. Prager’s veggie burger on a piece of ezekiel toast, topped with half of an avocado.

IMG_1313IMG_1316IMG_1312

The rest of the afternoon was spent writing and doing more laundry, until it was cutoff time for productivity, and time to start having fun! So I trotted downstairs to play a wee bit of Wii with the husband, followed by some 2-handed Euchre. It was a glorious time. I loooove me some Euchre 😀

At this point, I wasn’t feeling like making a big dinner, so we went with tri-colored cheese tortellini with some kale chips:

IMG_1347

IMG_1348 Hit the spot!

So are you all done with Christmas shopping? I pretty much got mine knocked out Saturday, but I still have just a couple more gifts to get. Plus, I lost one of the giftcards I got from Borders, and they’re not exactly being helpful about it, so I’ll need to go get a replacement 😦

I hope you all have a wonderful Monday before Christmas!! See you tomorrow!

When in Doubt, Grill it Out

Good Morning!! I hope everyone had a great weekend! I know I had some good times and got the chance to catch up on some sleep. It was very niiice. I’m going to try not to say anything negative about Monday or the work week. I’ve noticed I do that way too much.

Last night was the perfect way to end a weekend. I had a blast with the hubski. Before dinner, we took Niko on a nice leisurely walk. It was so awesome having extra time to do this kind of stuff today.

Niko and hubski getting their cardio on.

We worked up a little appetite, and when we got back to the house, dinner was on our minds. You know how I was having a hard time deciding what to do for dinner? Well my friends, when in doubt, grill it out. 😉

We kicked up the gas on the grill and grilled chicken, veggies, and sweet potato fries. I made the fries and seasoned the veggies, while Shane manned the grill with Niko. hehe look at the Nikster trying to help out.

He used about 5 spices, waved his hands, and wa-la yummy spicy chicken. I swear, no matter what he uses to flavor grilling meat, it turns out glorious.

And it was. We feasted hard core. Look at those bright colors in the veggie mix, too!

Before we mowed on the main entree, we snacked on some watermelon salsa – I made a variation of about 4 different recipes I read haha..

It turned out awesome!:D Shane was eating it by itself, and kept commenting on how delicious it was.

During dinner, I enjoyed a refreshing Sunset Wheat.

It was such a nice evening here in central IL, so after we ate dinner outside, we got out our bags game and played some bags. I guess some people call it Corn Hole? Either way, we had a ball! We were both being huge goofballs.

Shane ended up winning, but he cheated because he kept making me laugh!!

Go Illinois!

We capped off the night with a little relaxation and Enterouge. It was the perfect way to end the weekend.

Now it’s time to prepare for the day and the work week ahead. I hope everyone has a fabulous Monday! (ok, this is giving Mondays a little more credit than they deserve 😛 Kidding, kidding!!)

Sale Over Here!

Hi Everybody! How’s your weekend going?

I just got back from my girlfriend, Missy’s garage sale. Oh man was it crazy! There were tons of people there, especially in the early morning. It was a lot of fun though. So many friends showed up to help out, so it made it a good time 😀 Plus, the weather was perfect.

She had me bring Niko (Missy absolutely loves Niko and thinks she’s the greatest thing on earth) so she would attract customers LOL. Niko did her job…but I think Missy was talking about human customers.

I knew I was in for a long day, so to fuel for the big sale, I made myself a green chocolate monster before I left. I used the GREENSuperFood Chocolate packet:

and added it to 1 c. spinach, 1 banana, 1 T of flax, 1 scoop of fage, 1/2 c. of unsweetened vanilla almond milk, a scoop of almond butter, and a half scoop of Lean Dessert Chocolate Fudge protein powder. It was great! I can’t really tell you that I tasted a distinct flavor, because I really couldn’t. The smoothie tasted awesome, though!

It’s definitely a lot more filling than a typical green monster because of the almond butter, but a nice breakfast to fuel me against those crazy power shoppers 😀 I grabbed the GM, and was out the door and ready to help sell.

Everyone everyone except me ordered McDonalds around noon (even Niko got a couple fries off of the ground – her first fries, so you know tonight won’t be good :-X). I didn’t get hungry until I smelled everyone else’s food, so I dug into my (unpictured) Cherry Pie Lara Bar. I love this kind, and it held me over until I got home to make lunch around 3:00.

Lunch was made in a product of the garage sale. I traded my new bamboo cutting board for Missy’s George Foreman Grill!!

Heck yeah! I’ve been wanting one of these for a while, and to get it for a trade it awesome!!! 😀

I made a grilled pita with goat cheese, cheddar cheese, summer squash, spinach and turkey. It was so good and melty and toasty. haha. On the side I had a granny smith apple and one two On the Glo cookies:

Perfect Saturday post-garage sale lunch! I’m not huge into garage sales, so I pretty much helped out by watching the kids, and providing conversation, hehe. I’m not sure why I don’t like them much – I guess I just am lazy don’t see the worth in the hassle. How about you? Are you a garage saler? Or seller?

Now it’s off to do some laundry before getting ready for the night. Tonight the hubski and I are joining another couple (Heidi and Doug) for dinner at a cute little quaint restaurant here in town. It should be a good time.
