Leisurely Low Key

Hey peeps! Have a fantastic Monday? An OK Monday? Good enough 😉

Sorry for the delay in posting this morning. Apparently, I got too used to waking up to alarms and then ignoring them due to the husband’s hectic work schedule this weekend. Alas, when my alarm went off at 5:15 this morning, my body had other plans – to sleep for another hour and fifteen minutes! Doh!

It was pretty nice having the morning to relax yesterday. After declaring the next couple days “easy days” on the workout front, all I did was take Niko for a (beautiful) long walk, and get in about 20 minutes of upper body weights. The summer-like temps are still here and I’m still loving it. It’s like the best of both worlds – the beautiful colors on the trees are here, but without the gusty winds and cool temperatures.

I took these pictures on my long run from Sunday as I ran through my alma matter’s quad as evidence:

I love running through the ISU campus. Each time I do, I pretend like I’m still a student there 🙂 Oh college life…

Following the leisurely workout, was a leisurely breakfast!

I haven’t had waffles in quite some time, and I had a fierce craving.

And after some cleaning and some blog work, I headed into the gym to watch the front desk for the day since the owner is also a farmer, and it’s har

But this also meant I had to pack my lunch!I haven’t blogged about it, but I’ve eaten this sandwich the last four out of five days:

Arnold’s sandwich thin, tomato, baked tofu, & a Laughing Cow blue cheese wedge. The flavors go so well together! See? When I love something, I become obsessed 😉

Although the day was pretty low key and relaxing, it was still work, and I didn’t get home until it was just getting dark out. I really wanted to cook something for dinner, but alas the lateness of the day proved it too much work, and it became the fourth day in a row that I haven’t cooked dinner. I’m not sure who I am right now!

While Shane got leftovers, I quickly roasted some vegetables that were on their last leg and heated up a veggie burger:

x’s 2 of the brussells. It’s been a while since I’ve had a premade veggie burger, but sometimes I just don’t have the gumption to make my own!

Double decker!

After dinner, I foam rolled and watch Sabrina and Blair fight and make up yet again. My goal is to foam roll once a day every day for the next few weeks in order to get my hip flexor up to par! 😀

Time to go twork it out…

What’s the weather like where you are right now? Seems like it’s kinda all over the board across the country!

Vegetable Surrender

Morning! Sorry about the lack of postage (heh) yesterday. Things get a little hectic between Tuesday and Thursday around here and usually one of the days gets left out. What can ya do!

This morning I woke up and immediately laced up my running shoes and bolted out the door for a 5 mile run. Well, part of that’s true. I stumbled out of bed, drank coffee, and then bolted out the door 😉

Coffee in system, and Camelbak in tote, I headed out. The first mile was a breeze, but the rest were painful! Between the thick humidity and my breathing techniques, the run was a lot harder than it should have been. I love the Camelbak, don’t get me wrong, but I tend not to breathe when I take sips (I’m still running while I take sips) and obviously that’s a recipe for cramps.

Anyway, I cranked out 4.5 miles with an average pace of 9:18. The splits were pretty horrendous. Besides that last half mile where I gave it all I got, I’m pretty sure my time increased with each mile. It’s important to remember to treat mile 1 as a warm up mile if you don’t jog for a warm up before hand, and that little tidbit tends to fly out the window when I start running.

I got back in time to do some planks and shoulder exercises, showered, and then devoured (rhyme alert!) the breakfast of the summmaaa:

Whole Wheat Protein Waffles w/ Maple Greek Butter (just made that name up right now!) on top.

IMG_8303And a banana to switch things up a lil’ bit. Gotta keep it fresh 😉

For some reason, my hunger levels have absolutely been insatiable this week. You all know I love food, but it’s gotten rather annoying! My activity levels, water intake, and meal size/substance hasn’t varied much, so I’m guessing it has to do with sleep. I slept SO well this past weekend, but this week? notsomuch.

Yesterday was one of those days when a vegetable did not pass my lips until 4:30.

Around 4:30, I went a little veggie crazy.

First was mindless eating of fresh and local sugar snap peas and baby bella mushrooms.

IMG_8279 I ate these until I decided what I wanted:

Leftover eggplant and onion. This was a little dry, so I added a tbsp of tomato paste, a little EVOO and some S&P and it was MUCH better. Very tasty indeed. I ate this when I decided what I really wanted:

A green monster. Ok, veggies – I surrender 🙂

I drank this on the way to a client/business partners house where we proceeded to work and talk biz-nass for the next three hours. I may or may not have busted out my new Lange Body Fat Caliper:

IMG_8282And I may or may not have practiced on the hubski 🙂

IMG_8289It’s comin’ right for ya!!!

Good times until I started feeling the length of the day…

Low and behold, I came home hungry.

Finally, this bowl (and a half) staved off the hunger until I woke up this morning.

Well I’m off to work at the BIC (Big Insurance Company for the noobie readers:) )for a while…but the good news I’m pretty sure I’m going out for Indian food over lunch! Hooray!

Oh! and other good news – I’m going to the Healthy Living Summit!!! So excited 🙂 Who else is going? Can’t wait to meet other bloggers 😀

Separation Anxiety

After my speedy four miler yesterday morning, I had a hankering for some hot oats. But now oats in a bowl…

It was worth every sweat bead that hot oats after a hot summer run like this produces.

Then I got ready and zipped off to the office for a bit. Around mid morning, I decided I’d take a long lunch, so I came back home and took advantage of the glorious day by taking Niko for another quick stroll.

Lunch was a wrap! Quick and easy always does the trick.

The base:

Tomato paste and hummus

The innards!

Spinach and mushrooms….with sugar snap peas:

I really miss the pets now that I’m gone during the day again. It was really hard to leave and come back to work. Is it uber pathetic to have separation anxiety from your pets?!
I even ate lunch with Niko on the bed!

Those Kettle Chips on the side were an afterthought 😉

Then I went back to work for the afternoon to learn about the job of who I’m replacing. Fun schtuff.

Last night was volleyball night, but it was a late-ish one, so I had a couple hours to get some work done and relax beforehand.

Dinner was quick. Amy’s Medium Chili with Mary’s Crackers Garden of Eatin’ Blue Hot Chips

I completely thought I was pouring Mary’s Sticks and Twigs on my chili, when I noticed that it wasn’t sticks and twigs at all, but Eden’s Blue Hot chips! And ya know what? Eden’s Blue Hot chips make a darn good chili topper!

Lacking in the veg department, but I don’t see any veggie police around…

I had another beer after while playing volleyball (we won! And my mad skillz are back!) and then came home for a snack before bed:

           IMG_7703So good this way!

Well, I need some breakfast in my belly. This morning I had a morning client and then cranked out 45 minutes of cardio between the stair climber and elliptical, and I’m famished!

Have a lovely Thursday – almost the weekend 😀

Another Day, Another Change

Hey there 🙂 Happy Monday Tuesday! It feels like a Monday to me though.

Let me explain.

Remember that time I quit my full time job to dedicate more time to being a personal trainer and in the fitness field? That was pretty awesome. However, I briefly mentioned that when I submitted my resignation, my company and I tried for a part-time position instead of my just leaving altogether. Well, the part-time part didn’t work out, so I’ve been simply training, working a (few) hrs of staff at a gym, working on websites, and working out to my heart’s content. It’s been blissful.

However…my old job at the big insurance company called, and I start working part-time tomorrow. They found a position they want me to fill that’s just over 20 hours per week. This is awesome! It’s awesome, right? I know the past three weeks have been awesome, so I’m going to have to convince and remind myself that this is awesome, too 😉 Another good part? It’s only temporary, until the end of September. I’m going to be doing the same type of work I did before, but I’ll be backfilling for a girl who is leaving on maternity leave for a few months.

The bad part? Less time with clients and the days I work at the BIC are going to be hectic-city. I’ve known about it for a bit, but wanted to wait until it was official official to mention it on the blog front 🙂 Hopefully stressed-out Paige will stay AWAY. I’m pretty stoked to see some coworkers I’ve been missing though:D

To help me ease back into the corporate world, Shane cooked dinner last night. You know what that means…

Grillin’ out time! He’s mastered the cooking of the veggies (that I chopped and prepped.)

My plate

IMG_7676 That’s a whole lotta veggies.

Throughout the day yesterday, I trained three clients, worked on my website (can’t wait to share it!!) did a little quickbooks, ran 3 miles and did lower body lifting, worked on an inspirational-mental wellness project, and…

Ate good food!

A shroom and sprouts pizza (recipe will be in recipe tab soon.)

Um, second dessert:

Almond butter cookies. YUM-TOPIA.

And before my prevening client, I was feeling wiped, but didn’t want coffee so late in the afternoon, so I juiced.

Celery, carrots, and an orange.

IMG_7669 The celery was a bit overbearing, but these enzymes went straight to my system and I was energized 🙂

Needless to say, today’s going to be a looooong one. Right now I’m training clients (eaaarrrly morning – per usual) and then going back to the big insurance company (not per the usual,) and then training more clients!

Funny how life throws you through hoops and loops, huh? Gotta love it:) Keeps things interesting, y’know?

Have you ever left a job, and then came back when you thought you’d left for good? I’ve left the BIC twice now and have come back. I’m like a bad penny! Can’t get rid of me – muahah 😉

Finishing Touches

Good (mid) morning, all!

Sorry for the tardy posting, but I started training clients at 5:00 a.m. this morning, and just finished up right now! In between clients, I got in a leg workout and a little elliptical action. Awesome morning:) Better yet, I slept straight through the night without any shoulder pains! It’s not feeling 100%, but I think it will be OK for my volleyball game tomorrow.

So yesterday after the rain cleared up, Shane and I hit up the landscaping hard. We are almost finished! He’s putting on the finishing touches now, while I get ready for an 11:00 appointment I have with someone.

One of those finishing touches involved putting up our mailbox, hehe.

IMG_7298 IMG_7252

Finally finished up around 7:00 last night, and again, were both famished.

It’s still very hot here in central Illinois, so I didn’t feel like making any dinner that would involve heating up the oven. Options: microwave, grill, stove. Shane didn’t feel like firing up the grill, and since my lunch was zapped (microwaved, leftover pizza) that left the stove for…

Mixed veggie fajitas!

I basically threw every veggie in the fridge, plus some tempeh into a pan with a little olive oil. Then I added sea salt, pepper, cumin, cayenne, and chili powder. The signature Mexican spices, in my opinion. Oh, and garlic powder as a finishing touch. Can’t forget about garlic powder.

After sautéing for a while, I microwaved a few dampened whole wheat tortillas, and topped with Greek yogurt and lettuce.

They were scrumptious! I’m looking forward to having leftovers after my appointment 🙂

Well I’m off! I have a couple more clients to train later on tonight, but I’m hoping to get in another post beforehand!

How was your Memorial Day weekend? Go anywhere? Do anything?!

Green Intentions

Hi everyone!

How goes it? Tomorrow’s Friday – Woohoo:D

I started today out the only way I know how…with a cup of French Press coffee!

Mmm. I’m really getting used to the whole using no sweetener in my coffee thing. Dare I say it helps me feel better in the morning, too? I get the caffeine buzz without the sweetener buzz, which is a good thing in my book.

I followed up the coffee with a delicious juice from our Christmas juicer:

Carrot, celery, grapefruit juice. Yuuuumtopia!

Look at all the pulp it produces from that one cup of juice, though:

Yeah…that’s why I mainly like to EAT my fruits – look at all that fiber I’m missing out on. Oh well, juicing is FUN and surrre is tasty 😀

Then I was off to work!

Work was another busy day spend mostly at my desk, but then around lunch time, I snuck across the street to my stylist to get my eye brows waxed. Am I the only one who actually likes this feeling? I really don’t think it hurts at all – but instead that it feels good! I know, I’m special. Haha

I couldn’t help but pass a Starbucks on my way back to work, so the centrifugal force pulled me in. Besides, I wanted to put my reusable eco cup I got for Christmas to use!

Yay Green!

Except I didn’t even end up being green. I gave my cup to the barista just as he was about to write my order on the paper cup. Then, when he took my reusable cup, he totally turned around and through the paper cup in the garbage! So much for trying to be green! Oh well, I tried to spare that one cup, right? At least I saved the earth from a plastic lid? Haha Oh well – next time I’ll be quicker 😉

Either way, my grande soy half pump vanilla latte (no way I’m totally skipping sweetener in this bad boy) was spectacularrrr– and put me in a happy place for when I got back to work 🙂

After eating my lunch at my desk, and working on a couple other items, I decided I needed a break, and hoofed it up to the top floor to park it and work at a desk right by the window. Killing two birds with one seat, I got a TON of work done and got in a lil Vitamin D while I was at it. When working inside all day, in a cubicle, it can be tough to get your daily dose of sunshine.

Left work a little late to finish up on some scheduling and made a quick stop at the grocery store to fill up my fruit basket and my veggie drawer.

My drawer was once bare, but now runneth over

Do you know how much I love Aldi’s? I typically hit up expensive health food stores, spending more than I need, but this month the husband and I are doing a little challenge to see how much money we can save on food by having me not buy unnecessary expensive items from health food stores. I’m sure I’ll stop by there once or twice to pick up some spelt flour or kombucha, but for the majority of this month (and probably months to come, seeing as how Aldi’s is bomb) I’m stickin’ to Aldi’s and Wal-Mart.

Besides, I was chattin’ it up with my girl, Destiny, about Aldi’s and she told I have got to try their Winking Owl wine. Supposedly it’s like $3 and tastes amazing and doesn’t leave a hangover. Needless to say, I was super amped to see this magical wine to my right upon first entering the store:

Anyway, from Aldi’s, I drove to a Power Yoga class 😀

It was an intense class with lots of vinyasas. I really wish they held this class more than once a week. Well, actually they do, but they need to reschedule it to fit MY schedule 😉

When class ended, I went downstairs to the gym to get in a smidgen of cardio, before gallivanting home around 7:00

Famished as I was, my stankiness from the gym somehow outweighed my hunger. One Godspeed shower later and I was ready for dinner.

I knew the amount of effort I wanted to put into dinner was slim to none. So you know what that means…

Frozen pizza night!

It was a spinach pizza, but I added some bok choy for a little extra umph.

Popped it in the oven and devoured the first snack in sight patiently waited for it to cook.

Brock and hummus that probably should have been thrown out before this last hurrah.

Finally the pizza was finished cooking.

Ahhhh. SO good. And the stats are pretty amazing too! Not too many ingredients, mostly organic. And the cheese was feta and tofu. (I didn’t mention the scary “t word” when the hubski snagged a piece of it…muahaha)

with a spinach and tomato side salad:

Friggin’ amazing.

Shane basically had the opposite:

And we washed it all down with some magical wine:

Look, even the cork is cute!

Tomorrow’s going to be a busy one. I get off work at 10:30, but I have a fullll day of personal business errands to run. The reward for such productivity? A full body massage at the end of the day from my friend who’s a massage therapist. Score!! :D

Just had to add one more thing – Relief efforts are making it as easy as ever to do your part in helping Haiti through it’s time of devastation and destruction. How amazing is it that you can donate $10 just be sending a text message? Yep, all you have to do is send the message “Haiti” to the number 90999 and you will have donated $10 minutes, and it will only have taken 2 minutes of your time. If you can’t donate $10, there are many other ways you can donate to the Haiti Earthquake victims.

How “green” are you? Do you change anything up to try and be more environmentally friendly? Aside from the whole reusable coffee cup thang obviously, I also try and recycle as much as I can, unplug large appliances when they’re not in use, and use reusable grocery bags. I know that’s not much, but it’s more than I did a year or so ago!

Ciao it!

Hectic day!

It was a hectic day at work. I guess a four day weekend=mounds of email the next Monday morning! I think I’ll find a way to de-stress tonight. Maybe I’ll take Niko for a walk or do some yoga. Do you have any healthy de-stressing tips?

My day started off great! I pounded out a quick 30 minute run (about 3.2 miles, 348 cals burned according to handy dandy Polar F6 HRM).

This week I decided I’m going to make the effort to wake up and workout before work each day. Then, during the hour I usually spend working out after work, I’m going to pick a task that usually gets pushed to the back burner to conquer. (For me, this means waking up at 4:30. Ouch.)
Today’s task: cleaning my closet. Now, I’m not talking about a full on go through all of my clothes and sort, I just want to get it nice and straightened and clean. This room and the laundry room are the two ‘messy’ rooms of the house.

Now, I’m a little embarrassed to do this, but here’s a before picture:

For tonight’s post, I’ll post the after 🙂 There, I said it, so now I have to get it done! haha…

After my run this morning I made a quick breakfast – almond butter and bananas on a whole wheat English muffin. Yum!

I ate it at work, around 7, but then had a little snack of Puffins around 10. NOM

I had to run errands at lunch, so I made a quick salad at the cafeteria at work with spinach, broccoli, cheese, sunflower seeds, chickpeas, cottage cheese, and a tomato. Now that’s a salad!

An oops! snackie after lunch:

And of course I sipped on my Klean Kanteen all day long.

I was starved when I got home, so I made some cottage cheese and strawberries to tide me over until dinner.

Now it’s time to conquer that closet!

What tasks do you need to conquer that always get pushed to the back burner?
