Not so Beautiful Run

Good morning šŸ™‚

And what a lovely morning it is. It stormed all night last night; lightening illuminated the entire sky and thunder was so loud it sounded like it was coming from the backyard. It was very sleep inducing:)

Yesterday after I posted, I headed out for a 6-6.5 mile run. What was 75Āŗ heat at 7:00 quickly rose to 85Āŗ at 8:00 by the time I reached the trail. It. Was. Hot. By the 5th mile, I was running during the shaded parts of the trail, and walking when it was all sun. Luckily, I found a water fountain and doused my face in it. This was right before I passed an older man on the scooter who said, ā€œHi there hun! You look BEAUTIFUL!ā€

Yeahā€¦ either heā€™s lyinā€™ or I didnā€™t just run for an hour in heat and humidity:

And I definitely ran an hour in heat and humidity.

Stats:

IMG_6997

I threw in the towel at six miles, and walked the last half mile to my car. This bod just isnā€™t used to the heat yet.

Post run sipnslurp smoothie:

IMG_6991Yes, I sipped it and I slurped it.

And then continued to eat bagged, frozen fruit throughout the morning:

Lovely wet-haired-no-makeup look:

At least I showered šŸ˜€

After sippinā€™ and slurpinā€™, I mowed, which probably wasnā€™t a great idea. I felt off the rest of the day. Most likely from dehydration and being over heated.

The afternoon included creating training plans, taking care of miscellaneous emails/texts/phone calls, and organizing. Eventually, I broke for lunch with my 5-minute Mashed Sweet Potatoes:

IMG_7004

I added veggie baked beans for a little extra umph. To make 5-minute Mashed Sweet Potatoes, simply stab a sweet potato a few times with a fork, microwave it for about 5 minutes, chop it up, still in skin (or peel if skin ainā€™t your thang.) Then add about 1/4 c. of almond milk (or regular milk) and mash with a fork or a potato masher.

IMG_7007 Add maple syrup or veggie baked beans, if desired.

IMG_7006

Dessert was fresh strawberries:

When the husbki got home, I hung out with him for a bit until it was time to leave to train a few clients. Since I wouldnā€™t be home again until after 8:00, I had a little somethinā€™ to tide me over:

IMG_7010

Plain yogurt + Natureā€™s Path Pomegranate granola. All I had was regular yogurt, not Greek plain yogurt, so it was a littleā€¦runny for my tastes.

IMG_7014

I promptly started the process to make my own Greek yogurt then:

IMG_7025

by putting a colander over a glass bowl, 2 layered paper towels over the colander, and the yogurt over the towels:

IMG_7026

And sticking it in the fridge. Side note about making your own Greek Yogurt: Iā€™m not so convinced itā€™s cheaper than just buying Greek yogurt in the store. When you strain your own yogurt, you take the whey out, which reduces the volume of the yogurt, thusly increasing the price per ounce. Just sayinā€™.

Training was fun! Still feels weird to call it work. It just feels like Iā€™m helping some friends out with what I love.

Once home, I was hungry again, and just started throwing random veggies in a pan with some EVOO, and came out with this:

IMG_7015

Onion, garlic, kale, snow peas, Quorn ā€œchickā€™n,ā€ spinach, and edameme that was sauteed in EVOO and tamari or soy sauce:

IMG_7018

SO good. It was lacking rice, but I was too hungry to wait for the brown rice to cook.

IMP!

This morning, I woke up bright and early and immediately took Niko for a walk. Iā€™m looking forward to this being the standard way we start our mornings šŸ˜€

Shane woke up a little late today, so we couldnā€™t do Insanity together, but after he left, Shaun T and got pretty insane. Today was Pure Cardio ā€“ AKA pure torture or pure sweat šŸ˜‰

After showering, I raced downstairs to make good use of my homemade Greek Yogurt:

Yoatgurt!

IMG_7028

Oatbran w/ flax meal + NuNaturals vanilla stevia on one side, Greek yogurt on the other, and a blog of Naturally Nutty Almond butter for good measure šŸ˜‰ ā€˜Twas the most delicious bowl of oats Iā€™ve had in a while. And Saturdayā€™s was pretty damn tasty.

Well friends, Iā€™ve got my to-do list full of items I need to get to-done! I gotta say, itā€™s awesome having time to FINALLY get this stuff done, though.

I hope you all have a Terrific Tuesday!!

There’s a Feast in My Oven!

Whatā€™s up lovelies? Iā€™m so ecstatic so many of you are on board with the Complaint Free February Challenge!! šŸ˜€ I have to admit, I slipped up several times today. But I suppose day 1 is destined to be the hardest, right? How did you guys do? Did you make it through the day? Decrease the number of complaints in your typical day?

I woke up this morning and had the best. breakfast. ever. If you read Meals and Moves (and if you donā€™t, ya should) you have probably seen Janethaā€™s yoatgurt as of lately.

Yoatgurt: Half Greek yogurt, half hot oatmeal, half fully amazing.

Like this!

I know it looks weird, but donā€™t knock it ā€˜til you try it, folks šŸ™‚ For my yoatgurt, I mixed a 1/2 c. of plain Oikos w/ stevia and cinnamon, and placed in aside a 1/3 c. of oatmeal w/ stevia, flaxmeal, and a banana cooked in. Divided the two with some Trader Joeā€™s Raw almond butter.

IMG_5250

But the two are not meant to be divided.

After snappinā€™ a picture, I mixed it all together, devoured, and moaned in foodie delight. No really, itā€™s that good. Janetha, thank you for introducing this to the blog world! Itā€™s destined to be a cult breakfast soon.

Anywayā€¦went to work and had a super productive day! Got a crap ton of work done, and managed to chat with coworkers a good amount of the day, too. Day well done:)

Paused around 11:30 for some lunch:

IMG_5246

In the tinfoil ugliness was a wrap containing spinach, romaine, laughing cow wedge, tomatoes, black beans. Scrumptious! Aside were some bbq Popchips (which are phenom!!) and a couple Almond Butter cookies. Nom.

Had a couple meetings after lunch and it was already time to leave! Gotta love days like that. Oh, and the best part? Tomorrowā€™s Friday!! šŸ˜€

Drove straight to the gym from work where I did an easy pace 3.5 mile run. Although there are 5 treadmills broken at the gym, I was able to do one mile on one of the older treadmills, and then finish the last 2.5 on my faaavorite treadmill! Holler for finding a work around šŸ˜€ (almost complained there, hehe.) After running, I did about 30 minutes of a super intense leg workout. I already know, my legs are going to be jello when I wake up!

To try to prevent soreness and promote muscle recovery, I downed an Amazing Meal + Coconut Milk protein shake when I got back home:

Slurp!

Played with the animals for a while and got started on dinner. Apparently it was oven night.

Between the hubski and I the following items were cooking in the ovenā€¦all at the same time (ha ā€“ oops!)

-broccoli

-cauliflower

-kale

-Cod

-Sweet potatoes

IMG_5252

An oven feast!

My takings of the oven feast:

IMG_5254

So in love with kale chips right now. I really hope I donā€™t burn myself out on them like I do so many other foods.

IMG_5253

IMG_5256

Delish!

And a glass oā€™ red wine later and that brings us to now.

Now Iā€˜m about to go play with the pupster a little more, since I wasnā€™t able to walk her at all today. Iā€™ll probably play a game of chase around the couch until weā€™re dizzy in order to wear her out before bed. Gotta do whatcha gotta doā€¦

Then Iā€™m going to dive back into this read:

IMG_5245

I received this book and Brendanā€™s second book ā€“ Thrive Fitness from Sequel Naturals the other day, and Iā€™m pretty amped to learn a little more šŸ˜€ And yeah, Iā€™m still reading Lovely Bones, as well, but Iā€™m one of those people who always has 2-3 books going at the same time.

Have a lovely rest of your night, all, and HAPPY FRIDAY!! šŸ˜€ Yay!

What are your plans for this weekend? Letā€™s seeā€¦Iā€™ve got a busy one! Iā€™m going to see Dear John tomorrow with some girlfriends (bust out the Kleenex!!) and Saturday my half marathon training plan officially starts (yay!) and got a 2 year oldā€™s birthday party to go to, and then itā€™s Super BOWL!

What are your plans for Super BOWL (said like BOW-L!) this Sunday?? I believe we are having a few friends over to the house for some food and brewskiā€™s. Since we have to work the next day, it probably wonā€™t get too wild, though. Super Bowl Sunday should probably be on a Saturday, donā€™tcha think?! šŸ˜‰
